Dial and dial backing plate presumed ... moremanufactured by Seth Thomas in the U.S.A. The 5-3/4" diameter 12 hour dial with Roman numerals originally had a silvered finish; the finish is worn through to brass and there are only remnants of the painted lettering. The words. SETH THOMAS" are written on the dial between the 2 winding holes, although they are difficult to see. There is a slight 1/2" long crease/dent to the dial between the winding hole and the 11 o'clock position. The seconds register is just below the number XII with the slow/fast time regulator just above the XII; with the STRIKE on/off slot located at the 9 o'clock position. The brass plated steel movement support plate has 4 standoffs on the rear with which to attach a movement. The 3 holes line up for mounting it to the three case brackets. There are 6 holes in both the backing plate and the dial are in the same locations. Although the holes in the dial are are not the correct corresponding size; they are a smaller diameter. The case is brass with a nickel finish which is worn and has a light corrosion throughout. There are mounting holes located at the 4. 8 and 12 o'clock position. The hinged bezel has a flat spring latch which secure the bezel in the closed position. A couple of the screws are mismatched and there is a missing nut. The case measures 7" in diameter X 4" deep. The case has scratches and discoloration due to wear to the nickel plating. And a dent to the top side. The case has a perforated screen at the 6 o'clock position so that the sound of a strike might be heard. The glass which covers the dial area is in good condition. The inner nickel plated bezel has a great finish; although it has 3 bends to the lower lip at the 2. 4 and 6 o'clock positions; presumed from incorrect screw sizes installed in the past. Even though Switzerland wanted to remain neutral Supplying the US with vital items such as these movements seemed to be no problem for them. This chronograph seems to run very strong. The up/down indicater works properly. It sits in its original 6" x 6" wood box. there is no key to the box) The s/n of the movement is 6411710 and from what I can determine this puts it at approx. 1942. There are 3 condition issues that I know of. 1) The sweep second hand looks to be repaired You may be able to see in the pics that about half-way it looks like it was rejoined where it may have been broken, I am unsure exactly what may be the case as this is the way it was when I acquired it. 2) the thing that holds the box top from falling back needs to be re installed, there is 1 screw missing and the brass plate needs to be flattened out. 3) the movement cover on the bottom side which is the weight that makes it gimbal properly is missing. And of course the missing key which I already mentioned. So with the downsides out of the way lets review the positive, Rare! Movement looks great and runs great! Power indicater works correctly! The hinged brass case measures about 6 7/8" 3 7/8" tall and the dial itself is 5 3/4" across. The case features a brass grated area on the bottom which gives the tone of the bell loudness and crispness. The condition of the totally unrestored clock is surprisingly nice with an even patina to the aged brass and just one small dent on the bottom, evident in the images. The unrestored dial shows an even patina as well and is signed"Seth Thomas Made In USA" The crystal seems very nice and it does come with a key(though probably not the original) Nice interesting vintage nautical piece. BTW, contrary to my normal policy, I'll only ship this item domestically.

Vintage Seth Thomas Ships Clock Roman Numeral DIAL & CASE ONLY Parts time/strike
PLEASE NOTE: This auction is for a case and dial only- please read the entire description. A vintage Ships Clock case. Dial and dial backing plate presumed manufactured by Seth Thomas in the U.S.A. The 5-3/4" diameter 12 hour dial with Roman numerals originally had a silvered finish; the finish is worn through to brass and there are only remnants of the painted lettering. The words. SETH THOMAS" are written on the dial between the 2 winding holes, although they are difficult to see. There is a slight 1/2" long crease/dent to the dial between the winding hole and the 11 o'clock position. The seconds register is just below the number XII with the slow/fast time regulator just above the XII; with the STRIKE on/off slot located at the 9 o'clock position. The brass plated steel movement support plate has 4 standoffs on the ... morerear with which to attach a movement. The 3 holes line up for mounting it to the three case brackets. There are 6 holes in both the backing plate and the dial are in the same locations. Although the holes in the dial are are not the correct corresponding size; they are a smaller diameter. The case is brass with a nickel finish which is worn and has a light corrosion throughout. There are mounting holes located at the 4. 8 and 12 o'clock position. The hinged bezel has a flat spring latch which secure the bezel in the closed position. A couple of the screws are mismatched and there is a missing nut. The case measures 7" in diameter X 4" deep. The case has scratches and discoloration due to wear to the nickel plating. And a dent to the top side. The case has a perforated screen at the 6 o'clock position so that the sound of a strike might be heard. The glass which covers the dial area is in good condition. The inner nickel plated bezel has a great finish; although it has 3 bends to the lower lip at the 2. 4 and 6 o'clock positions; presumed from incorrect screw sizes installed in the past. The base(E537-004) measures about 2 1/4" X 8" I bought this clock new in the early 70's. Ran it off and on over the years.Mostly used as a display piece. The clock is in great working condition, no cracks or scratches. For sale is a beautiful early 20th century/late 19th century Seth Thomas Lever Clock. This clock runs and has a loud charming tick-tock sound. The brass case and hinges are in great shape for their age. The face opens easily to wind the clock. This clock has about 75% of its original paper label intact. The previous owner has mounted this clock on a beautiful piece of aged barn or ship wood. The clock can be easily removed from its mount and hanged on its own. This clock would look beautiful anywhere in your home. Office, or on your boat. It would add just the right amount of charm to any setting. There is some wear on the face around the key. The body has some small dings in it. But nothing out of the ordinary for an item of this age. The clock could use a good cleaning. You can polish the brass or leave it as is. This is a fantastic Seth Thomas Ships bell wall clock. These wall clock are very fine quality. And are made to rival the Chelsea Ships bell clock. The case of this clock is made of polished brass, and has the ships wheel around the dial to give a great look. It keeps ships time, striking 8 times at 12:00, 4:00, and 8:00, and strikes on what sounds like a gong followed by a bell. The movement is in perfect working condition, and the key is included. This is a Vintage Seth Thomas Helmsman Ships Bell Clock in completely original condition with key. Clean silvered face and graceful spade hands. Also included is the optional solid mahogany color wooden stand as shown in pictures. The clock can be removed from stand and mount on the wall. Early Seth Thomas Daniel Pratt Ships Clock Boston
This is an early wooden ships clock with rosewood veneer sold by Daniel Pratts son in Boston. I think it dates to the 1850's and was sold by the Pratts after they stopped making there own movements and began using other company's movements. This one has a Seth Thomas movement. The clock is in good working condition. Some of the veneer is missing around the edges that you can see in the picture, not bad for a clock over 150 years old. Up for auction is a fantastic Seth Thomas"Helmsman" Ships Bell Clock. This clock has a heavy chrome-on-brass finish that is very close to being mint. It is running very strong. Keeping good time, and the ships bell strike sequence is strong as well. It has a 4-1/2 inch silver dial and a 5-1/4 inch screw-on bezel. The clock is approximately 3-1/2 inches deep and the spokes measure 8-1/2 inches end to end. This was probably manufactured in the mid-seventies. It has a very high quality 7-jewel German movement with a strike silencer and a FAST/SLOW micrometer setting lever. The clock has recently been serviced. I bought one, wound the clock and it kept near perfect time for over one day. It goes 30 hours on one wind. On the internet I found two clocks that were nearly identical. One was dated 1885. The second 1905. The Clock hands are bent with rust. The face has one small area of rust with dirt and scratching. It appears to be original. The brass case is in generally good condition. The back is wood with a label that is 70-80% worn off. The second last picture shows the back. The last picture is a label I found on the internet that appears to be the same label. The wood body of this clock is solid mahogany, beautifully accented with brass wheel handles, brass trim ring and an etched brass colored face with a great nautical look. The polished brass handles and bezel ring shine brightly against the rich. Red mahogany. The nicely shaped body, make this clock look great from any angle. Up for auction is an ANTIQUE SETH-THOMAS BRASS SHIPS CLOCK with OUTSIDE BELL. The dial is 5 1/2 inches in diameter. And the brass case is 7 inches. It's overall dimensions are, 7 inches wide, 10 1/2 inches tall, and 3 1/2 inches deep. The brass case is is in real good condition, all original, and has no pitting or major scratches, but is tarnished from age. It has not been cleaned or polished. It has a hinged bezel, and original glass. The silvered dial is a little tarnished, but probably would clean up if you would want to do so. This has been packed away in my attic for about 20 years. Antique Collectible Seth Thomas Outside Bell Ship Clock Vintage with Label SHIPS
Up for auction. I have a vintage Seth Thomas ships clock. The clock is currently running and comes with what looks like the original key. The clock was painted at some point. I tried to remove a little off of the metal part of the case and it seems to have a chrome like finish underneath. The dial has wear. It still chimes, but it's very tinny. Not sure if thats how its supposed to sound, but if not, I'm sure the hammers just need to be adjusted. The glass on the front is broken as well. I can remove it before shipping if you want, but wasn't sure if removing it would effect the value, so I left it as is. Came from a local estate in Upstate New York. RARE WWII SETH THOMAS MARK 2 MODEL 1 SHIPS SUBMARINE COURSE CLOCK #21227 WORKS
Rare WWII Seth Thomas Mark 2 Model 1 Course Clock Serial Number 21227. Here is what I believe to be a very rare find. This is a WWII Seth Thomas Mark 2 Model 1 Course Clock. The serial number is 21227. The clock has the winding key and is in working condition. We have tried to find out information about the clock. Some say it was used to set a Zig Zag course on naval ships during the war. Others say they were used to set a Zig Zag course on a Submarine during WWII. We did see a write up where someone found a direct correlation to the same type of clock being used on the USS Pampanito Submarine. The clock would sit on some different cams and would tell the navigator when to change course with the ring of the bell. The needle that you see in the picture would then point to the direction to steer and how far to go. The course would be changed ... moreto stop the enemy from detecting the movement of the Sub. The clock was typically mounted next to the Gyro Repeater in the Submarine. The clock has a 12 and 24 hour dial with a separate second hand dial. There is also a control module to speed up or slow down the clock. The Bakelite cover over the dial works as it should makes a tight seal and there are no cracks or breaks in the glass. The clock measures 7.75" across the top of the dial. Both the key wind for the clock and the bell operate as they should and the again the clock does run. We believe the bell needs the bottom cams in order to chime. The main housing of the clock is cast iron. It also works as it should and is in very good condition. On the clock is a time set knob and also a start- start control on the side. On the bottom of the clock is a Set Knob. Once again. This is a very hard clock to find and we do not believe they were ever offered to the public. If you have any further questions we will do our best to answer them. Vintage Chelsea Clock Co. Ships Clock Cases Seth Thomas G.E. Case for parts
Offered here are a couple of G.E. Ships clock cases. One is for a Chelsea 6" inch bakelite type case and the case part is fine but the bezels have broken hinges and one screw mount is broken. One of the bezels looks fixable. No glass. The other case is a G.E. 6" inch bakelite for a Seth Thomas and has a broken tab on the top mount. Seth Thomas Brass Corsair Ships Clock with Wood Stand
This was my great uncle Fred's clock and was on the mantel at his beach home in Falmouth. Mass for as long as I can remember. Keeps time to the minute and tries to chime. But alas, it may be too tired. It used to have beautiful chimes. The case has light age spots that won't polish off. A little bend on top of the front bezel(top left) and a small bend on the front bezel(bottom right) I tried to get the best photos of the clock and issues. Antique 1880's Seth Thomas 8-day Ships Wall Deck Clock Oak Case Last weeks transaction is being cancelled so the item is being relisted. Believed to have been salvaged from the USS Wachusett when it was decommissioned from naval service in 1885. Has the twin barrel Seth Thomas model 10 Movement for 8-days of run time- this dates it to no earlier than 1880 when they started making this movement. This corresponds to its history after its next to last refit- Time only- it does not have ships bells Oak Case appears to have been laquered within the last 50 years or so. Original dial and antique key which also appears original. Has a seconds bit on top part of the dial. Case has supports on top and bottom to prevent rocking with the ship movements 8 inches in diameter with a 6 inch dial Movement was hand cleaned and oiled Brass keyhole trim ... morepiece is missing from the right side dial hole When servicing the clock I noticed that there was a pencil mark on the inside of the case that says"1885 Wachusette CWPhilip" The name Wachusett is mis-spelled- with an e added(this suggsts that the writer may have been of French descent where words often end in-ett e) From the internet I discovered that the ship was decommisioned out of naval service in 1885 and sold in 1887 as a commercial vessel. The last naval captain was John Woodward Philip( that means the CW should actually be a JW) From the errors I assume that the note was written by either an original salvager or someone after the fact who wanted to document where it came from. With some errors in his knowledge- hence the errors in the notation. The Wachusett was a wooden sloop fitted with nine guns(including a turretted cannon) by the Union side during the civil war. It participated in the blockades of Confederate ports during the war. The last photo is a rendering of the ship I found on-line NOTE: I cannot authenticate the notations in the clock case but it does appear to have the general facts right- although it has those errors mentioned above. Seth Thomas ships clock w/key - Deck Clock - Non Striking - working condition
Here is a Seth Thomas ship's clock that has been running for an hour and a half. I had a watchsmith look at it and he says it most lilely comes from the WWII era. It is a non-striking deck clock. It has the key and he said it is an 8 or 14 day clock but is almost sure it is an 8 day clock. behind the face of the clock it says it was cleaned. And oiled in 1984 and seems to be running nicely but I would probably have it cleaned again since 1984 is almost 30 years ago.Hr tried to explain why it has two wind up turnstiles but I can't remember. Something about if one stopped the other would push it along because they didn't like the clock stopping on the ship. I think? It is 7" in diameter and about 3-1/2" thick.I assue you just lay it on a deck somewhere and let it run? Or is it a wall hanger? There are three screw holes ... moreon the lip.

Ships Clock By Seth Thomas War Time Connection?
Hi I have for sale a 1900s ships clock made by Newhaven USA housed in a solid brass case with a solid heavy front door. The Case The case in brass and is 7” across x depth of 3.5” and is in perfect condition with a mint thick bevelled glass front door. The Dial The dial is in good original condition in silvered steel; the clock also retains its original black ornate hands and red sweep seconds hand. The face is 6" across. The face has U.S. Maritime Commission 12982 so possibly connected to the world war one or two. The Movement The movement is an eight day time only running via the original jewelled platform escapement. The original key is included. Overall a very original clock which contains all of its original features this is quite a rare find these days never played with and just been fully serviced at a cost of £100. Offered for auction is this vintage Seth Thomas Ships Bell 8-day Wind Up Clock. Striking on the half hour. has 5-1/2" heavy duty chrome case with screw on bezel. Fast/Slow adjustment located below the numeral"12" Above the numeral"6" are the words"SETH THOMAS" and"Made in USA" below lower chapter ring. Silvered metal dial face with Seth Thomas spade cut hands and engraved Arabic numerals etched in black. Dial face is in very good condition with slight faint blemishes as seen in photos. No chips or scratches on glass. Completely original. It is in very good working condition. Keeps accurate time. Chimes every half hour. Chrome has a very fine light patina throughout. Can be polished to a brilliant shine if so desired. Measures approx. 5-1/2" in diameter x 3-1/2" deep.
