Up for auction today is vintage nautical lantern. Different people call these types by such names as; buoy. Piling, master head, anchor, or dock lantern/ light. I am not sure of the proper name or use for this lantern. Can you inform me? It measures 17 ½” tall. The bottom is 8” in diameter, the top is 7 ½” in diameter, the lens is 4 ¾” tall(the exposed portion) and the lens is approx 5” in diameter. The lens is a dark ruby red and I see no cracks or chips. The body is galvanized metal with the rings. Latching hardware and the top ring of bottom portion being made of brass. There is a makers mark on the inside but some is missing and I cannot tell by what I can read who the maker is. Do you know? Some tarnish. Scuffs/etc and three brackets screwed into the base. A small ding or two that I wouldn't call dents, but you may. Approximately 10 inches across the bottom and 19 inches tall- 21 inches if you count the top handle- more if you count the bottom handle: I do not know if the oil burner works or ever was supposed to work. Antique 1800s Nautical Post Lantern Lighthouse Lamp Ship Mast Anchor Light Brass
Description: This is a large antique"birdcage" type oil lantern that was made between 1860 and 1890. It has a period Fresnel lens globe that is in good condition with a bit of chipping around the rim. But no cracks or structural damage. These brass lamps were re-produced by Perkins Marine Lamp Corporation but this one is an original 1800s light as shown by the beautifully decorated hanging ring at the top, careful handmade construction, etc. This one is also extra special in that it has the post fittings for use in a light house- it is missing the brass plate which would have marked it as such, but you can see where it used to be attached. These antique nautical lamps were used extensively for anchor lights, and after its life in a lighthouse it may have been used at the top of the mast during heavy fog or in the night to keep other ... moreships from running into the boat. It is missing the burner and bottom plate- it may have been wired for electric after the use of whale oil lamps declined, but please note that only what is in the pictures is included. This is a large nautical lantern measuring 14" tall and 6" wide. It is in"as found" condition with a dark patina on the brass, dirty glass, small dents, tiny cracks in the brass, and various other age/use related marks. Wonderful vintage Tung Woo. Hong Kong, copper ships lantern. This one is marked"Anchor. 9" high x 4.5" wide or 22 cm x 13 cm Some of the copper has"greened' and spread to cover other parts. I was able to wipe most of it off easily with a wet rag. This shows some wear and age. I have sold and shipped a lot of fragile items. Rare fluted Fresnel antique vintage anchor lantern
Listed here is a very rare indeed fluted Fresnel lensed Anchor lantern from the 1930's-1940's. Possibly earlier. The lens in this lantern is very rare. As well as the Fresnel design. The lens is fluted as well, amplifying the brightness of the lantern. The glass lens is free of any chips or cracks. The lantern is galvanized metal and has some missing It looks to be converted to electricity. The wiring is no longer complete, therefore the light does not illuminate. Some cage arms are missing; there are dents in the metal. Also, the metal has been painted, as you can see. The lens is believed to be Perko; the lantern from"Wilcox Grittenden and Co. Though no markings have been found on the piece itself. The light measures approximately 10" tall from base to the apex of the ring and 4 1/2" in diameter. It weighs approximately ... more5 pounds. The lantern comes from the collection of the now extinct Arques Shipyard in Sausalito, CA. A lovely piece of history to be had. All proceeds benefit the Arques Traditional Wooden Boatbuilding School.

Here is a solid brass oil ship's anchor lantern made by Perkins Marine Lamps of Brooklyn N.Y. This is the Perko model. Lamp is in good condition for over 100 years old and someone had painted it black-this may have been on a warship to mask the reflection. Glass lens is cracked inside but not separated. Antique"Anchor and Lanterns" candy dispenser/salt and pepper shakers. Manufactured by Vanstyle Specialities Corporation. This unique candy dispenser set has a red base and gold colored anchor and the dispensers/shakers are made of glass. In good condition and measuring 5-1/2 inches high by 3-1/2 inches wide. The shakers measure 3 inches high by 1-1/4 inches in diameter at the base. Purchased at an estate sale and from a private collection, this is a rare candy dispenser collectible.
