Big ship is the Model of Flying Cloud 1851 13" long x 13" tall one of the fastest ship of it's day. She was an"Extreme Clipper Ship" and held a speed record for 100 years. Built in 1851 and sailed until 1874. The largest merchant ship afloat at the time. Model is loaded with nice details. Brass plaque on wooden stand. One piece of wood was repaired but unnoticeable. Small ship has no name on it so unsure which ship it is a model is. Just selling it with the one I know. As is. But in good shape. Great models with details on both. Antique Victorian Hand Carved Wooden Ships Half Model of a 400 ton Sailing Ship On offer we have an antique very decorative. Highly collectable ships half model of a sailing ship. It was probably a shipbuilders sample to show a prospective customer of what the vessels lines would look like. It dates from, I think. From around the 1880s. It has a solid carved pitch pine hull that has been painted black, the decks have been varnished. It is mounted on a mahogany backboard. This is a one off hand made item not a production line model. It is not possible to determine the exact type of ship as the masts and rigging are not detailed on such models. Based upon the size of the coamings for both hatches I have estimated the scale to be 1/16 inch to the foot. The length of the model is 6 5/8 inches which makes the ship 106 feet long. The width of the ... morehalf model is 7/8 inch making the beam 28 feet. Using builders old measurement this would give her a cargo capacity of around 400 tons bm. There is a hatch modelled on the forecastle and another on the poop deck. A rowing boat or skiff stowed on top of the cargo hatch on the maindeck. This is a truly lovely item. It is mounted on a mahogany backboard with two brass screws. The back board has had some holes drilled in it there is a crack associated with the right hand hole. For condition please see the box above. The model weighs approximately 126g unpacked. It measures approximately 9 1/4 inches overall length by 3 5/8 inches high and 1 1/4 inches wide. From the late 1940s through at least the mid-1970s. The National Handcraft Society operated in a building located at 1425 Grand Ave. in Des Moines. Society members would receive a craft in the mail every month, also known as the Fad of the Month Club. It would contain the craft pieces, the instructions and a postcard showing what the completed craft would look like. As a member of The Fad of the Month Club. You were deemed the privilege of being a member of the National Handcraft Society. The craft kits were as shown in the catalog published by The National Handcraft Institute, seemingly in the same location as the Society, in Des Moines. Santa Maria ship measures about 7 inch x 1 ... more1/2 thick. Mast stick measures 8 inch so I assume it is 10 inch tall. Other two are smaller. The paper is yellowed after unfolding as shown. Instructions are clear. As I said, I don't have the measurements as they are unopened and I have no idea if pieces are all there. I assume they are. No Returns.
