This is an 8 day ... moreclock in very good condition. I have wound it up and it lasts 8 days until rewinding is necessary. This is 6" clock and weighs 6 Lbs. There is a small lever at the top of the clock that accesable by opening the lid with the key and I set it all way to the the right for a few days and the clock ran a few minutes faster after about fours of observing off and on. And then I reset it to the middle location and clock was running within seconds of the actual time. i do not know why this is there but it is probably some sort military setting for timing torpedoes or navigational applications. The black base that is mounted at the bottom is probably not the original way this clock was mounted, I mention this because my wife is from Ukraine and her father served in the Russian army during the Soviet Union era and he asked me to remove the base and there is three location hanging mounts on the back side and two of them are broken and suggested that some one had pulled it away from it's anchored location on the Submarine during the break up of the Soviet Union so he concluded it is a make shift base because it is made of plastic and the Russians did not use much of any plastic materials on Military equipment back then. This would be great addition for military collector and even a vintage clock collector. This item sells as is with no returns. I am selling ONE 8" dial. US Navy Chelsea 24-hour clock. black dial. Serial#18987E This is the real thing! It belonged to my grandfather who sevrved in the Merchant Marines in the 1930's& 40's. I don't know what ship he was on or which ship this clock came from. The clock is in working condition- it I was able to wind it. It ran for over 24 hours. I don't have a"Chelsea key" to wind it. If you like the authentic. Aged patina-look, you will love this clock. The face is in excellent condition. The hour and minute hands are corroded but working. The second hand is very clean but is a little wavey. By design, the glass is held in the door by a wire keeper and is sealed by a gasket. As the gasket is present, it has broken into unusable pieces. This is a Chelsea US Navy Mark I ships deck clock. It is in good running order and has kept accurate time for 7 days on one full winding. It is in good/ very good condition. The case is solid. And the lens has some wear that would be expected from a clock of its age. The dial pan is in very good condition and all of the numbers and letters are in good shape. All of the radium dots and hands are present, the second hand works as it should. The movement is brass and running. The back cover is missing, this does not effect the running condition of the clock whatsoever. Please view all photos and ask any questions you may have before bidding. No records of when the clock was last serviced- runs for full week. And keeps good time. Silver Numerals on Black Dial- good condition Hands are silver in color. And have some corrosion or missing coating on ends. As mentioned in"Condition" section above. The bezel has some worn threads and 3 brass shims are present to apparently tighten up the thread fit. Assuming the serial number records are accurate from Chelsea Clock Co. This clock is almost 100 years old- and has seen active service during this time. It appears to have been well cared for, and various ... morerepair markings indicate that it has been serviced over it's life. NOTE: This clock may not have the correct thickness of glass installed as the bezel screws down securely with the glass surface against the inside dial ring. But there is a small gap apparent where the bezel edge meets the case threads( see picture) Otherwise the bezel tightens up correctly, there is no interference with the hands and no apparent operational issues with this. The glass is tightly cemented into the bezel, and no attempt was made to measure or remove it for replacement. 1940 WW2 US Navy Mark 1 Seth Thomas Ship Deck Clock. It is in very nice condition with typical wear. I put a little turtle wax on the chrome and polished up it some but will need a good cleaning/polishing. Face has some light scratches as shown in photos but no chips or cracks. Clock is in very good running condition. It does run a little slow but there is an adjustment on the backside for that. I am not comfortable adjusting anything on this so will leave that up to buyer. Backside has a sliding dust cover, photos were taken with it open but I can take with closed if needed. Opens and closes with no problems. Comes with 2 keys. Please check over photos, this shows some age but is a wonderful original WW2 clock for your collection or display. EARLY U S MARITIME COMMISSION OR NAVY TYPE 8 INCH SHIP CLOCK BY SETH THOMAS
Here is an early U.S. Maritime Commission ship clock that is in excellent running condition. These earlier clocks had the seconds orbit on the OUTSIDE of the time ring. Thus requiring an EXTRA LONG seconds hand that is usually missing from these early clocks. The reason they are missing is because their excessive length made them nearly impossible to hack the clock. Hacking is adjusting the seconds hand with the finger to co ordinate exact time on the CO's mark. These early hands tended to foul with the minute hand(STOPPING THE CLOCK) and were a constant headache at sea, and thus were removed, rendering the clock worthless for marking seconds. The dial design was lated changed to an INTERNAL seconds orbit,and a shorter seconds hand) like the Chelsea, both of which are commonly found clocks here on Ebay. These early long seconds hands ... moreare nearly impossible to find today. And thus this complete example is a good but rare one, and completely straight. See the seconds digits on the outside orbit in pictures 2& 3. This is an uncommon clock in this condition and uses the type 1 Seth movement. These type 1 platforms were hand fitted at the factory and parts between number 1 platforms will NOT interchange. If something breaks in the platform. It must be replaced and re fitted by hand. This led to considerable down time at sea, and thus the Seth type 2 movement was developed, where parts did interchange. The Navy and USMC were then happier. Snyder from the Officer& Men of the CINCPACFLT Intelligence Div. The clock works well and it`s in very good physical condition with no cracks or breaks and has only slight wear. It chimes every half hour which sounds like a ships bell. The clock dial measures 5 1/4" in diameter. The clock measures a total of 12 1/2" in diameter. On Apr-11-13 at 09:02:02 PDT. On the back it is marked'Omega Swiss. 15 Jewels, 8 Days, 9114168' It is missing the main brass casing it sits in. It measures approx 3 5/8" diameter. The winder is not connected to the movement. So it needs repairing. The balance spring is not broken and looks like it would work well. It has some tarnishing on the brass. Some minor chips from the paint on the blue hands.

You are bidding on a rare Seth Thomas U.S. Nav y black ship's wall clock. This one is rare because it is the 8 1/2" dial and a 24 hour clock. This was one of the largest dial's made by Seth Thomas. Please look at all the pictures they will give you a good description of this great clock. The date on the clock housing inside is 1-1944. That is WW 11 folks and of this listing the onl y one on Ebay. This one has a low buy it now because of a couple things w rong with the clock. First there is a place missing from the case I believe it is picture number 6. I am guessing this happen ed when trying to take it down with a screw still hol ding it to the wall. Will not be noticeable when it is hanging on the wall because it is at the top of clock. Also I have had it running for 5 days and it runs well but looses an hou r over a 24 hour ... moreperiod. I was told by a clock person that it needed to be cleaned. The glass is in great shape along with the orginal cork seal. The case is free from any other cracks or breaks other than the one I mentioned earlier. Also dial face shows minimal wear for it's age and clock comes with a key for win ding it. Vintage US Navy ships clock heavy brass Chronometer
This is US Navy ships clock in a heavy brass clock. The clock is marked US navy but no maker is shown. It was likely made by Chelsea or Seth Thomas. The clock has a second hand. The clock is 6 7/8 inches across on the top and 3 ½ inches high. The clock will not crank. So we think it has been wound too much. There are some light dents on the side of the case.
