Antique Anchor 19th Century Ship Wreck Nagshead NC Folding Stock Large Vessel
Antique anchor salvaged off Nagshead. NC in 1972 by a fisherman when it caught in the net. It was found near the'13 Mile Pole' After doing some research and contacting a maritime history expert and marine archeologist and sending photos, we were given the following information. This anchor is from a large vessel. Possibly a warship. The curved lower end of the stock and the swelling on the upper end where it meets the shank indicate it is a folding stock anchor from the 19th century. The diamond-shaped palms are also 19th century. As triangular palms were used in the 18th century but they tended to foul the rope or cable, which would then pull the anchor out backwards. The diamond shape was intended to reduce the chance of that happening. The clamp in the middle of the shank is a"balancing band" to lift the anchor more or ... moreless horizonally onto the ship. It would also serve to hold the stock against the shank when folded for stowage on board. The large ring at the top is 12" across and has a smaller loop attached to it. Antique Boat Anchor Circa 1870's
Here is a fine piece for your nautical antiques collection! This antique boat anchor has lots of character and really shows it's age. I was told by the previous owner that this anchor was made around 1870. The anchor's dimensions are 42 inches long(not including the ring) and 24 inches across the points of the flukes. Each fluke is 5 1/2 inches across and it weighs 36 pounds. The anchor is straight but has had some repair work done to one of the flukes. The anchor is very pitted from years of corrosion. But I have cleaned and painted it since I have owned it so it's fit for your living room carpet or floor. I would prefer a local pick up on this item. Here is a nice old iron anchor. It weighs a little over 6# It measures 14.5" across the bottom. 21.5" tall, and 20" across the top piece with ball ends. Vintage Antique 19th Century Folding Stock ,Old Fashioned Boat Anchor Yard Art
Up for consideration is this nice antique anchor. It has silver paint on it but it is an iron anchor. The shank is 38" long with flat surface and rounded edges. The stock is 34" and the crown measures 23" Each fluke is 9"x 4 1/2" Ring is about 5" Total weight is around 45 lb's. The stock has a shim slot so the anchor can be folded and stowed flat or shimed to keep it set while being used.This anchor could be put to use onboard or just used as a great peice of yard art. It is in very presentable condition with no cracks or bends. Some of the pictures show the shim as it was made to be used. It keeps the anchor in place when set up or broken down. The shim and the chain are not original to the anchor, they are parts I made. Please feel free to ask any questions.

This Antique Silverplated Napkin Ring shows one o f the most intricate and detailed engravings/stamping I have seen. The detail in this piece is amazing and reveals new things everytime you look at it. The Antique Napkin Ring depicts the sinking of the U.S.S. Maine Battles hip in Havana Harbor in 1898. The U.S.S. Maine was the U.S. Navy's 2nd Commissioned Battleship which was p atrol ling Cuban waters protecting interests. No one took responsibility for the sinking of the ship. However, the U.S. Naval Co urt of Inquiry concluded the ship was sunk by a mine. This incident served as a catalyst for the Spanish-American War later that year. Nice antique wooden clothing w ringer. Patent date June 30. 1899. The manufacturers name has w orn off of the front. But it looks like a Lovell to me. I may be wrong about that. So pl ease look at the pictures and make you r o wn judgem ent. Condition is as seen in the photos. You can see there is some deterioration to the rubber on the wringer rollers and I be lieve there was originally more to the handle than what you see. VINTAGE GORHAM STERLING SILVER COPPER VASE ANCHOR ANTIQUE ART NOUVEAU CRAFTSMAN
Being offered. For your consideration is a gorgeous antique art nouveau copper and sterling silver vase. Handles and legs are sterling silver I believe that the copper body is solid copper Providence. Rhode Island Circa 1880s-1890s It is incised with GORHAM AY162 an anchor and some another image. It is a nice size. Standing 6 1/2" high. The three graceful handles start at the top of the vase. Gently turn and continue along the length of the piece where they turn into the legs at the narrow base. These three handles are made of sterling silver and I would questimate that the handles alone weigh around 40 grams. One of the legs has broken off and is missing, as can be seen in my pictures. This lovely vintage piece of history would be considered a craftsmens gem. I am not exactly sure of the precise history. For sale is this Antique circa 1909 trophy cup. Loving cup or goblet etc. Im not sure what metal its made of or what its true purpose was but its a wonderful antique piece. It is marked on the bottom with"Special Metal- Anchor Silver P. Co. St. Paul Minn. Warranted Quadruple Plate- 26" and their trade mark anchor scale(see pic#3) I know that the Anchor Silver Plate Co. ran until 1909. It has a dent on the bottom rim(see pic#5) but otherwise looks to be in good used condition. It has a sand blasted like finish with some fancy etching on both sides. Lovely collectible piece. The closest mark to this that I found in my book of German porcelain marks is that of the Ludwig Wessell Company of Bonn. However. It may not that company. Figures could date from sometime in the 19th century to the early or even mid 20th century. Top of musket on one figurine is rough and looks as if there was more there, probably a bayonet. Antique Rogers Double Anchor Mark Sterling Silver Salt Pepper Shakers 111 grams
Presented for your consideration this lovely set of early Rogers sterling silver salt and pepper shakers. The shakers measure 4-5/8 inches tall. And 1-11/16 inches in diameter. they have a lovely repousse floral border. The shakers are marked with the early anchor on either side of ROGERS along with STERLING. WEIGHTED REINFORCED and the number 3020. They are lightly weighted and weigh 111.5 grams on my jewelry scale. The shakers are in excellent antique condition. But one has a couple of bruises on the bottom rim and also a bruise on the side. The other is perfect(except for tarnish) They can both use a soft polish. Genuine Antique Stocked Admiralty Anchor from 1800's US Navy
Here is a rare opportunity to own a unique piece of nautical history. This anchor would be a perfect centerpiece for a US Navy Base. Museum, Estate, Marine Center, Yacht Club, or any other publicly viewed property. Based on my research. This anchor is a stocked Admiralty anchor, also known as a Fisherman anchor with a long-shank design. This type of anchor was used by Americans and the British from about 1831 to 1860. The Charleston Navy Yard displays two similar anchors(though larger) and states that this type of anchor was no longer used after 1850. I purchased it more than ten years ago at an estate sale in King George County. Virginia, near the Dahlgren Navy Base. The owners were selling their estate and moving to Florida. They purchased it many years before from the Dahlgren Navy Base at a public auction. My best estimate is that it ... morecame from a wooden, US Navy sailing ship and was used about 1850.
