This listing is for a rare antique footed pint decanter with its original ground-in waffle sunburst pattern pressed glass stopper. It has a ground and polished pontil. And good base wear. The stopper has a very nice clean snap-off at the bottom, and the"grated" or"waffle" center pattern has horizontal lines on one side, and vertical lines on the other. It is relatively crudely pressed, and what looks like an inch of loss to the one edge is actually due to an incompletely filled mold- it does have a small chip on this rough edge, and a tiny nick a bit lower(both probably original, due to the rough mold seam) The bottle itself is amazing, and has only a few light surface scratches. The glass is incredibly clear, and is nearly free of bubbles or inclusions. It measures 9.1" to the top of the stopper, and 7.2" to ... morethe top of the rim. This piece is as close to"new" condition as you will ever find on pre-1850 glass! An absolutely stunning decanter with great proportion, and elegantly simple appeal. Really unusual antique Bohemian absinthe server has hinged lid with interior section for small decanter and 1 ounce shot glasses for the substance. It was cold painted. And much of the exterior and interior cold paint has worn off. The lady's face on the top was charming(tho not really well done) and when I went to wipe off the dust, her face came off as well(too much absinthe? Handblown. Clear glass cruet with two finger handle. Measures close to 4 1/2 inches high including stopper and about 2 3/4 inches across bottom. The stopper has frosted bottom. The top of stopper has a tiny area where it looks to been attached when it was hand blown. The cruet has some frosting in the inside top near the spout. No chips but does have mold marks on neck. Antique Persian Blown Glass Tear Catcher Bottle Sprinkler Cobalt Blue 11" NR!
Purchased from an estate in Los Angeles. California Antique Persian cobalt blue blow glass tear catcher bottle. The condition of this piece is very good. With only 1 area of chipping on the bottom rim of the back side(see pictures 7-9. In ancient Persia. When a sultan returned from battle, he checked his wives’ tear catchers to see who among them had wept in his absence and missed him the most. Sprinklers of similar form are in the corning Museum of Glass. The Victoria& Albert Museum, the British Museum and Copenhagen's David Collection. There is some debate as to the purpose of these vessels. The V&A remarks that“It has been romantically and completely falsely suggested that such flasks were used by the Sultan’s lonely concubines in the Harem to collect their tears; the shape is probably intended for sprinkling rosewater or similar ... moreperfumes onto the hands. Another version of the story is that the flasks are tear catchers used at funerals by widows to collect their tears. And then buried with the body of the husband. The V&A says that such flasks often are dated to the 16th and 17th centuries but that there is“no evidence”that they were made before the 19th century. Certainly from 1400 onwards glass making in the Middle East declined in the face of competition from imported Venetian and Bohemian glass and in the 19th century there was an attempt to revive glass making in Persia. Brown Warner's Safe Kidney and Liver Cure Glass Bottle mold-blown, blob top
This Warner's Safe Kidney and Liver Cure bottle was produced sometime from 1860 to 1880. By blowing the glass into a two-part mold, when a lot of"snake oil" was being"manufactured" and sold to unsuspecting customers. The 9 1/2" bottle(3 3/4" wide and 1 3/4" deep) has a beautifully embossed front with the company name, the product name, the company location in Rochester, N.Y. and a safe, thus making a visual pun for the potential audience. Early C. 1820-40 American Pittsburgh Free Blown Glass Bar Bottle
this fantastic early 19th Century Free Blown Glass Bar Bottle measures about 8.5" tall. It has a substantial amount of wear to the base. It is a quite heavy piece and it could've been originally intended to have been hand cut. But never got"done" It is a almost an onion form bottle. The color of the glass is a bit smoky leading me to the Pittsburgh area, but it is possibly from elsewhere. The bar lip is applied smoothed and shaped as can be seen. There is an air bubble trapped in the lip as pictured.

This is a vintage reproduction of a Stiegel bottle from the famous Henry Stiegel glass works of the 18th century. It is hand blown amethyst colored glass with a pontil on the bottom. It is marked MMA. Also on the bottom. It was purchased by my Mom from the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC some years ago in the late 1960’s. For sale is an outstanding circa 1875 blown glass bottle. From a Bergen County New Jersey estate home. This piece features a figural scene of a man in a top hat on the front and a man hunting bird on the back. It is outstanding early glass! We see no damage to the piece at all besides age appropriate wear. The pictures show some areas that look like damage but they are inclusions in the the glass itself. Antique near perfect'Jeny Lind' hand blown whiskey bottle/flask. This beautiful example of hand blown glass is over 150 years old and appears to be in perfect condition. It is aqua-blue in color and stands 9 1/2" tall. On one side is depicted'Jeny Lind' and on the other side is a home with smoke rising from its chimney. The Pontil mark( the scar where the was broken from a work of) is clearly visible and can be felt. The presence of this mark indicates that the piece of work is indeed'hand blown' and not'mold blown' as in modern day pieces. It measures about 8 inches long with a diameter of about 3 1/2 inches at the shoulder. The color grades from a dark eggplant shade at the bottom moving upward to amethyst to a chocolate-purple with lots of bubbles and swirls and uneven shades of color at the upper area. The lip is flared. There may be some old dirt or dust inside and on the surface toward the bottom there's a little sandy pockmark. Overall good condition, no chips or cracks.
