An outstanding 19thC. American Wine Carboy or Demijohn. 17-1/4"H. acquired from a life-long collector. Hand-Blown and nearly-symmetrical with no seams; the neck has a slight lean, and the base is not perfectly round. Beautiful Green glass; closer to Emerald than Olive. This is a commanding bottle, absolutely loaded with inclusions: vertical air bubbles(even bubbles within bubbles! pot stones, ash, straw marks, and whittling everywhere. Vintage Hand Blown Demijohn Carboy Liquor Bottles Here is a fantastic lot of(3) vintage hand blown demijohn carboy liquor bottles. The color is an amber-brown. All sit well. Very nice pontils. Very good overall condition with no surface cracks. They have nice air bubbles/seeding. No seams. See pictures. 2) bottles measure approximately 6 1/2" tall x 4 1/2" square at the bottom. The other bottle meaures 7" tall x 4 1/2" square at the bottom. No wicker holders or maker marks. Lot of(3) weighs 3.1 lbs. before packing. Estate sale finds. The family said that these bottles had been packed away since before the 1950's and had belonged to their uncle who was retired Navy and had spent alot of time fishing in Mexico. This one is an awesome deep green glass with the distinct air bubble effect only aged blown glass has. The unique part of this bottle is the molded volume size. The only one I've seen like it. The bottle is in need of cleaning inside. It had dried wine still in the bottom when purchased. It is in excellent condition for its age with no cracks, or breaks and with all the bubbles and ripples you expect to see. It stands aprox 23" high and is 44" around at it's widest point. I listed this as having a German origin but, could easily be Austrian or, Italian based on local. Here is a fantastic huge vintage antique wine bottle. It is beautiful hand blown with natural bubbles and swirls designs in the glass. It stands about 22" and and holds about 8.5 gallons or over 30 liters. It is difficult to find one like this size. The bottle is in good condition and would be a great addition to any decor!
