Blown Flint Glass 3 Ring Pint Decanter Bottle Thomas Cains Boston Sandwich NEGC
This listing is for a rare antique footed pint decanter with its original ground-in waffle sunburst pattern pressed glass stopper. It has a ground and polished pontil. And good base wear. The stopper has a very nice clean snap-off at the bottom, and the"grated" or"waffle" center pattern has horizontal lines on one side, and vertical lines on the other. It is relatively crudely pressed, and what looks like an inch of loss to the one edge is actually due to an incompletely filled mold- it does have a small chip on this rough edge, and a tiny nick a bit lower(both probably original, due to the rough mold seam) The bottle itself is amazing, and has only a few light surface scratches. The glass is incredibly clear, and is nearly free of bubbles or inclusions. It measures 9.1" to the top of the stopper, and 7.2" to ... morethe top of the rim. Purchased from an estate in Los Angeles. California Antique Persian cobalt blue blow glass tear catcher bottle. The condition of this piece is very good. With only 1 area of chipping on the bottom rim of the back side(see pictures 7-9. In ancient Persia. When a sultan returned from battle, he checked his wives’ tear catchers to see who among them had wept in his absence and missed him the most. Sprinklers of similar form are in the corning Museum of Glass. The Victoria& Albert Museum, the British Museum and Copenhagen's David Collection. There is some debate as to the purpose of these vessels. The V&A remarks that“It has been romantically and completely falsely suggested that such flasks were used by the Sultan’s lonely concubines in the Harem to collect their tears; the shape is probably intended for sprinkling rosewater or similar ... moreperfumes onto the hands. Another version of the story is that the flasks are tear catchers used at funerals by widows to collect their tears. And then buried with the body of the husband. The V&A says that such flasks often are dated to the 16th and 17th centuries but that there is“no evidence”that they were made before the 19th century. Certainly from 1400 onwards glass making in the Middle East declined in the face of competition from imported Venetian and Bohemian glass and in the 19th century there was an attempt to revive glass making in Persia. Brown Warner's Safe Kidney and Liver Cure Glass Bottle mold-blown, blob top
This Warner's Safe Kidney and Liver Cure bottle was produced sometime from 1860 to 1880. By blowing the glass into a two-part mold, when a lot of"snake oil" was being"manufactured" and sold to unsuspecting customers. The 9 1/2" bottle(3 3/4" wide and 1 3/4" deep) has a beautifully embossed front with the company name, the product name, the company location in Rochester, N.Y. and a safe, thus making a visual pun for the potential audience. It is in excellent condition. Without scratches, cracks, or chips. It has the usual marks of a blown bottle-air bubbles, slight mold indents, other mold irregularities. Check out my!

Early C. 1820-40 American Pittsburgh Free Blown Glass Bar Bottle
this fantastic early 19th Century Free Blown Glass Bar Bottle measures about 8.5" tall. It has a substantial amount of wear to the base. It is a quite heavy piece and it could've been originally intended to have been hand cut. But never got"done" It is a almost an onion form bottle. The color of the glass is a bit smoky leading me to the Pittsburgh area, but it is possibly from elsewhere. The bar lip is applied smoothed and shaped as can be seen. There is an air bubble trapped in the lip as pictured.

It measures about 8 inches long with a diameter of about 3 1/2 inches at the shoulder. The color grades from a dark eggplant shade at the bottom moving upward to amethyst to a chocolate-purple with lots of bubbles and swirls and uneven shades of color at the upper area. The lip is flared. There may be some old dirt or dust inside and on the surface toward the bottom there's a little sandy pockmark. Overall good condition, no chips or cracks. The pontel at the bottom of the bottle indicates that it was hand blown. The hand painted decor is of flowers and having raised enamel accents on glass. A rather attractive decoration with vibrant colors. The bottle is 11 1/2" tall and has a 3 3/8" in diameter at the base. It is 4" in diameter at the widest part. This piece was probably blown in Bristol. England area. The condition is good- no chips, cracks or damage.

And this one is just amazing. Heavy blown glass to create a 7 3/4 inch tall 4 inch wide bottle. Great Pontil mark on base with lots of wear. Etching on all four sides. With the front having initials and the date 1832. Possibly a wedding date? A Ship setting sail? The stopper is a cork fitted top with a copper fitting over the cork. This attractive artist made. Mold-formed bottle nicely depicts a stoic GEORGE WASHINGTON. This bottle is in great, as-new condition and has some very nice hand made attributes. There are a few bubbles here and there in the glass(none open) and a nice pontil mark on the bottom. A slightly elliptical mouth adds to the hand-made appeal. A well fitting cork is included. it has a rough area inside the top which tells me it had a stopper. Which could make it a Barber Bottle or Cologne. there is much surface wear on the bottom, it is a dark purple when held to the light. has greek design in Mary Gregory style, and there is some loss or damage to that in few places refer to photos 7& 8. stands 7" tall. and very rough Pontil scar with some indentation. I have spent many many hours through out the last 8 years trying to attach a maker to this but I just can't seem to find anything helpful.
