Which Was Added To Some Glass Before 1920, Turns Purple When Exposed To Sunlight Resulting In This Delightful Violet Color In This Old Bottle It Stands Approx. 6" Tall x 2 3/4" Wide It has 2 tiny rough spots on the outside of the bottle. There is not any other damage to the bottle that I can see- just some very light haze staining inside from being dug from an early 1900's era northern Minnesota trash pit. I'm thinking Islamic regions.as the aforementioned owner traveled to all those places AND there is an auction sticker on the inner rim of one of the pieces. Has some Islamic print and 257171. Glass is similar to crackle glass with lots of internal bubbling. And internal streaks(crackle) Clearly done by hand/blown. Uneven bases. Uneven stems, rough rim ends.a rough glass pontil area on underside base. Concave base. I cant quite find ... moreanything like them. Nothing I've come across has such a long neck vs. body girth. Uses perhaps for long floral vegetation but with such a skinny neck I am thinking primitive wine/mead/sprits decanter. Good luck finding ANYTHING like this. They are museum worthy pieces of history. Shorter Piece: Base diameter ~5" Total height 19" rim O.D. 1 7/8" I.D. 1 1/2" weight 17oz. Taller Piece: Base diameter ~5 1/2" Total Height 20" rim O.D. 1 7/8" I.D. 1 1/2" weight 19oz. a 10 1/2" tall. 3" wide unmarked bottle that has developed a lilac/ purple tint due to sun over its lifetime. Bottle does have some bubbles here and there in the glass but is heavy. It weighs 15.4 oz so its nearly a full lb. Inside of bottle is in need of cleaning or leave as is. It seems to have an applied lip and rim is slightly uneven. I apologize that I was unable to capture it in the photos! The condition is fabulous, considering its age, with no cracks or chips and the brass(or plated brass) lid still has a shining patina on the inside. It measures about 8 inches long with a diameter of about 3 1/2 inches at the shoulder. The color grades from a dark eggplant shade at the bottom moving upward to amethyst to a chocolate-purple with lots of bubbles and swirls and uneven shades of color at the upper area. The lip is flared. There may be some old dirt or dust inside and on the surface toward the bottom there's a little sandy pockmark. Overall good condition, no chips or cracks. Antique Davidson 1/2 Pint Tumbler Purple Slag w/Hallmark c1880s pattern # 1290
This is a beautiful and striking Davidson Purple Slag ½ Pint Tumbler circa approx. 1880.This has been identified as pattern# 1290 with Davidson. The mixing of the two colorations of glass purple and the cream/white glass is magnificent. On the bottom of the tumbler the Davidson Hallmark is shown. Which is a lion emerging from a crown. The piece measures 4 ½” tall, the base is 2” wide and the mouth is 3” wide. The piece is striking with the primary coloration of purple slag with magical mixture of the cream/white glass. The piece was acquired in the UK by family in the 1880s and has been in the family since. The piece is in pristine condition. The Davidson Hallmark is on the bottom of the piece, with a sunburst and the words ½ Pint. According to the family inventory Davidson founded Teams Flint Glass Works in 1867 and became ... moreknown as George Davidson& Co. in the 1880s when they started mixing and creating Malachite(Slag) pieces. And when they purchased all the patterns and designs of Sowerby, instead of poaching them. They also manufactured Milk Glass and the famous Pearline. In 1923 Davidson produced the beautiful“Cloud Glass” by applying streaks of dark colored glass to paler glass. Davidson also made opaque green glass known as Jade This piece is from a vast family collection of antique glass and collectibles belonging to an estate of items which spans well over 200 years. Antique Figural Bottle Hand Holding Dagger Purple Glass 14 1/2" *EXCELLENT*
Here is an antique figural bottle displaying a hand holding a dagger. It stems from the early 1900's or possibly before. The origin is unknown to me. It measures approximately 14 1/2 inches in height by 4 inches at it's widest point at the base. As shown in the photos. The bottle has a light purplish cast to it. It is quite detailed, showing a twist to the dagger handle and a bracelet of sorts on the arm. The bottle is in excellent condition. It does has scattered bubbles and glass flaws within the glass itself. There are minor abrasions(not chips) on the upper index finger and the rim. This antique medicine bottle once contained Vaseline. It has a wonderful. Naturally oxidized light purple color. There are no cracks or chips, but there are bubbles and seams, as shown. The bottle stands 2 3/4" tall and would have had a cork(non-screw top) lid. It is stamped K on bottom. Feel free to examine the bottle with the zoom lens. This is a terrific piece antique or vintage glass. It's hand blown with a applied handle and wonderfully ribbed on the inside and a pontil on the bottom. When you feel inside the mouth of the bottle you can the unevenness of the glass where the glass overlaps. It's a very interesting piece. It's in great condition it has no chips or cracks and the purple is a wonderful color on this piece.
