Water is very scarce. The population is confined to the towns and villages. The soil is perfectly sterile except in valleys which can be irrigated. The mountains afford a scanty pasturage for sheep and goats. Very good wheat is raised at San Fernando and Santa Rosa. Monclova, Saltillo, Parras and in their vicinities, and large quantities ... moreof wine and brandy are made at the later place, but no cultivation is deemed profitable without irrigation. There are a few minor smudges around the margin, light dampstain on the right edge and one short half inch edge tear repaired on reverse, otherwise the map image is very clean in general with bright color and a nice antique quality that would frame up well. Condition: The map is in Fair condition and basically as shown. It has been restored by backing with Japanese paper and a water soluable acid free glue. It is very stable now. Although it had split completely across the center fold and there is paper loss and internal tears, missing paper on the edges. A few minor spots but no distracting stains to mention.
