This is a wonderful REAL Art Deco piece. An advertising Yardlong for Pompeii face creams. This is DATED copyright 1925 by the Pompeii Co. It features a couple at a costume ball. The colors are just magnificent. Please look at all my pictures to see this piece. Condition is excellent EXCEPT for one small tear, about an inch long, that bears attention preferably by a professional. Otherwise NO issues, ready to be professionally framed. There is a worn-out label above the bottom electrode which said"Germany" This kind of tube was made with a relatively high vacuum. Which causes the cathode rays to follow a straight line away from the concave cathode, regardless of which of the other 3 electrodes is connected. These were often sold in a pair of tubes, along with a low vacuum tube which demonstrated the cathode rays following a curved path to the other connected electrode. In one of the photos you can see a brownish spot on the glass, opposite from the concave cathode, where the rays hit the inside of the tube. In the lit-up photo, you can see that spot as a glowing circle on the near side of the tube. This is a fantastic Crookes Maltese Cross Tube probably dating from late 19th Century/ Early 20th Century. I believe. From my research, that it was produced by Pressler. It measures 8 3/4" long x 9 1/2" tall when on its wooden display stand(stand is included) Info about tube is as follows: This is one of the most famous Crookes tubes. The tube demonstrates that electrons go in a straight line and don't go through metal. The cross can actually lay down and stand up(mechanically) When the cross lies down, the glass face of the tube emits a green glow when the electrons strike the glass wall, when it's right up you will see the shadow of the cross. Tube appears to be in very good condition- there are no chips or cracks, stand is very sturdy as well.
