This austere work from the workshop of Gustav Stickley is an impressive object. The solid oak and oak veneers glow under years of waxing, the finish is soft and velvety with warm mellowed hues and a deep patina from the oxidized charm of use. The back leg retains the decal of the Stickley shop used during the years of 1905-12. It is in every way a very fine investment grade selection. Measurements: 55 13/16" wide x 22 5/8" deep x 29 5/8" high; 18" high to top of cushion Condition Report: Oak veneer cracking and loss throughout. Particularly to the edges of the feet and along the posts. Surface is early, probably not original, well preserved with wax. Scratches, gouges and abrasions throughout, as expected with an antique, these well represented in the photos. Core of feet have typical dry-rot, not causing any issues or weakness. Appears to be the original seat frame(though we have not removed the leather upholstery to examine) reupholstered in a carmel-chocolate leather, this with light abrasions and use indicators. The glass balls in the feet measure 3 inches across and the legs. At the widest point, about half way up, measures 3 1/4 inches across. This table is not marked. Signed, dated, stamped or otherwise labeled. There is a small dark stain to the table top that measures approx 4inches by 2 inches. A darker spot next to that as well but not sure what that spot is. Both can be seen in the last picture. There are no major chips. Cracks or other issues to any part of the wood. It is possible this is a Louis F Nonnast table made between 1878-1888. I do not know much about this size. Style or age. If you have any information that may be helpful to identifying this piece. I would very much appreciate dropping me a line or two. Local Pick Up is best for this large. Beautiful and well taken care of item. It worries me to ship it as I have seen very few table such as this. However. The way this is constructed, it appears it can be taken apart ~ legs removed and lower shelf removed, for possible shipping. Because of its size and weight. Jewelry, etc.case or tray which became popular in the 1930's era on mostly Walnut or Mahogany dressers in the top drawers for gentlemen to keep their accessories; cuff links, chains, tie clips, or any other kind of small to medium size items, rather than just setting them on a dresser or night stand top where they would get pushed around or fall off. The two wood sides as seen in(Photos#6&7) are attached in the front and back very easily so they can just slide in and out vertically and the grooved tops are where the accessories box just sets in. All of the parts are in great condition and ready to use. When I bought it. I was told it was from around the 1920s. The glass shows wear and age. The vanity has been well used over the years by it's previous owner(s) as you can see a few old makeup stains. Their are four drawers on the left and a drawer and cabinet on the right. It provides a lot of useful storage for makeup and toiletries, and has the table has a nice bit of room. It's a very basic design, but can really be made your own. The bench fits nicely under the table. The drawers also show wear. And one of the knobs is chipped. I think the style is more traditional. This is a very handsome solid large golden oak piece that could be used as a bureau or sideboard. Etc. It is in excellent condition and has original ornate brass hardware. The lower bureau is 55.5"WX24"DX36"H. On top is the 40" high original ornate beveled mirror that has some light silvering but still is in fine condition. Thus the total height is 76" or six feet four inches. The two top drawers are 24" wide. The two lower drawers are 49"W. All drawers are fairly deep. 1930's Simmons Raw Steel Metal Dresser Vanity w/ Mirror Stripped Clear Coat VTG
I Have This Amazing Steel Dresser For Sale I am 99% sure it is a Simmons. However any original makers marks are no longer visible Dresser has been stripped of all original paint on visible surfaces. Underlying rust has also been removed and then the"raw" metal surfaces have been clear coated with spray laquer. Inside of drawers. Drawer bottoms, dresser bottom, and inside of dresser"carcas" vave been coated in an off white textured paint. All other surfaces have been stripped and cleared including the back and drawer sides. All stripping was done by"hand" with chemical stripper. Steel wool and a hand held wire brush. No mechanical devices were used(ie, sanders, sand blasters, wire wheels) as to preserve the unfinished metal"look" Mirror and plinth can be easily removed if desired I have taken pictures ... moreat different angles and light. Antique English Burled Walnut Dresser
This beautiful gently used piece dates from the 1920's. The front is a burled walnut veneer with a highly polished top(some imperfections as shown in the picture.
