Antique Federal Style Flame Mahogany Dresser w/ Mirror Chest of 6 Drawers Bureau
Antique Federal style mirrored dresser or chest of drawers dating from the early 1900's. Stunning flame mahogany veneers grace the surfaces of this piece and are decorated with intricate contrasting inlay. An inlay medallion of a lamp has been placed atop the swivelling mirror. This piece has six drawers ina 3 over 3 configuration. Providing ample storage space. All the drawers are made with high quality dovetail construction. The entire piece is raised off of the ground by short tapered square legs sitting on brass and wood casters. Overall. This piece is in good condition. There is some noticeable silver loss to the mirror(see pictures) but no cracks or other damage. The wood has some noticeable wear associated with age, including chips and breakage to the veneers or inlay, including the lamp maedallion at the top of the mirror. See ... morepictures. There is also a chip out of the left side finial and the right side finial is missing altogether. The knob that goes over the swivel action of the mirror on the right side has come off, but we do have it. The wheels of the casters do no turn easily and probably need to be oiled. No other breaks or repairs. The bureau stands 72" tall and is 50 1/2" wide and 23" deep. The mirror has maximum dimensions of 43" X 29" We do have other pieces that match this one available. Antique 1916 Mahogany Dresser / Dressing Table / Vanity with Mirror
THIS ITEM IS FOR LOCAL PICKUP IN IRWIN. PA 15642 ONLY. NO SHIPPING. Antique vanity/ dresser/ dressing table with mirror. The finish is a dark brown. As shown in the pictures. The facing is missing in a couple places. The mirror has two side mirrors that fold in and out. It has 5 drawers; each drawer has a lock mechanism that looks like it accepts the old style skeleton keys, but I don't have a key for it. The size is about 20 inches deep, 44 inches wide, and 59 inches high. Although I can't tell what they mean, there are several markings on it. Stamped into the wood on the back are the numbers 4474 and 57. 4474 seems like it was important to the manufacturer, because it is in 3 separate places. The mirror is very delicately attached to the dresser. I took the wooden back panel off the mirror to see how it was attached and figure out ... morehow to make it more sturdy, and discovered that the back of the mirror is stenciled with the date June 13, 1916 and an"N" and a"P" which may be the mirror manufacturer's logo. On the inside of the wooden back panel are the words"4474 Mahogany" hand written in cursive pencil. The number"48-88" is stenciled inside the back panel also. 4474 Mahogany Toilet" is also hand written in pencil inside one of the left hand drawers, along with what looks to be the"48-88" again. I looked online but couldn't find information on what these numbers mean or where the vanity came from(or how much it's really worth) I also don't know if"Mahogany" is meant to be the color of the finish, or the type of wood it's made of. The mirror doesn't come off for transportation. It is attached only with 4 screws through the wood mirror frame into the desk part. Which is why the center mirror rocks back and forth a little when the vanity is moved. It could be braced more securely but I don't want to put more screws into it, the new owner can do that. The original solid cast bronze hardware is also included. The original large mirror goes over the lower long dresser and has the original glass which is in good condition. If this was period neo-classical, you’d be looking at paying in the high thousands, but this is a very unique copy, complete with the ebonized pillars, the simulated brass ormolu trim, and the diamond point ebony inlay, with brass ormolu style stars. A hard. Close-grained wood, mahogany can be strikingly veined or mottled, as observed in these pieces. The set consists of a four-drawer tall chest. Two single beds, a matching three-drawer chest, and a matching mirror. All finished in a dark reddish-brown color, with two glass tops, and the whole set is all ready to find a place in your home. Turn of the Century English Style Dresser with Mirror w/ 5 Drawers in Solid Mahogany with Brass Pulls. The dovetail construction is similar to that of reproduction style furniture manufactured in America between the 1890's-1930's. This piece has a few types of European style detailing throughout. The dresser has 5 drawers. 3 smaller drawers on the top row and 2 large drawers below. The top 3 drawers have working locks but we received the dresser without the matching key. The brass pulls on all the drawers are Prince of Wales Ostrich Feather motifs used in English Style furniture in the 18th Century. The bottom drawer has a French Louis XV/Louis XVI style wood carvings. All the drawers are in excellent working condition(metal pin guides) with clean interiors. The bottom 2 drawers are the largest in size both adorned with the Prince ... moreof Wales brass pulls. Both in good working condition with clean interiors. The front legs are carved in the Edwardian Style with very little wear. And tapered legs in the rear. Side and top mahogany panels are in very good condition with very minor wear. The Louis XV style molding on the sides near the top are very similar to details used in English Style furniture in the 18th Century. The top of the mirror has a gallery style backing with an oval shaped beaded wood pattern and is finished in the center with another wood carved Prince of Wales Ostrich Feather motif. Beautiful piece. Just enough detail to elegant but not so much as to be gaudy. It has a wonderful hidden 7th drawer on the bottom. It measures 40 x 22 inches on the top and is 41 inches tall. It weighs about 155 lbs. This dresser was manufactured at the Grand Rapids Michigan factory where they produced furniture from 1875-1974. In the top left drawer is the inlayed Berkey and Gay logo pictured above.
