I have to start off by saying this might be one of the nicest. Well constructed, high quality pieces of furniture that I have come across. The actual designer of this piece is undetermined but John Widdicomb had some of the best designers of the era making furniture for the company such as T.H. Robsjohn Gibbings and George Nakashima. This item features wonderful sculpted feet. With 3 dovetailed drawers on the exterior and one small drawer on the inside for ample storage, and stunning bookmatched wood grain that is beautifully displayed at the joining of the top and sides of the dresser. This bookmatching technique takes a highly skilled craftsman to make the veneer from the top and sides appear to be one continuous piece. Even the back of this dresser is very well constructed as pictured. The high style original solid brass star hardware are the perfect accent to this remarkable piece of furniture. This item dates back to around the 1960's and is in excellent vintage condition with only light signs of normal wear including some minor dings and light surface scratches but nothing substantial or out of the ordinary. The dresser measures approximately 47"h x 40"w x 20"deep. I have added many pictures so you can get the best idea of its beauty and condition and supersize all pictures for some great closeup shots. There is no identification as to the maker but based on similar chair examples we have seen we believe it was made by Kalp-Sons. Santa Fe, Ca. The table has a harvest gold Formica top with rattan and cane edging and a rattan base. The rattan frame chairs have cane backs with cloth fabric seats having a butterflies print. Measurements: Table Height: 28” Table Top without Leaf: 43” x 55” Table Top with Leaf: 43” x 73” Table Leaf: 18” wide Chair Seat Height: 17” Chair Overall Height: 35” Seat Diameter: 18” Condition: As is typical of vintage and antique furniture. The set is not perfect. The finish shows some wear, understandable for a 40 +/ year old piece of furniture but considering its age it is still in decent shape. The caning on the back of one chair has been replaced and though it was a decent job. It is noticeable and not quite the same as the factory job. The cushions have been reupholstered with a butterfly print cloth and the seats are all in very good condition. A few screws have been added randomly to the bases of the chairs for tightening and strengthening and they are structurally solid. The base of the table is structurally solid and in very good condition. The original Formica top shows minor wear and is in very good condition. A nice feature of the table is the ease of installing and removing the leaf with the patented mechanism making it so only one person can easily do the job in seconds. The set shows a little wear from its intended use but certainly is presentable and displays nicely. Overall condition is very good and it will give many more years of service.
