I traveled the county extensively during the early 1970s and picked up maps like this one from the local gas stations. They were free then. Shortly after the 1973 Arab Oil Embargo. These maps started being offered for a charge, usually a dollar or so but, by then the driving public had grown accustomed to getting them free so, their distribution dropped off dramatically. Maps like this one marked the end of a motoring related era. Essentially all of my maps were put away in a box decades ago and remain in nearly new condition-no tears or dog ears or marks…an outstanding find ... morefor collectors. Historians, and geographers.
