Also shown are two steam railroads: the Lake Shore& Michigan Southern and the New York, Chicago& St. Louis. The map also labels property owners. With lot sizes in acres, and it shows schools, churches, cemeteries, allotments, and village corporation lines. It is drawn on a scale of 400 feet to one inch, which provides great detail. I am really not sure if these are the 1915 originals or if they are reproductions prodcuced by the Cleveland Planning Department in 1971. The map shows the streetcar lines of the Cleveland Electric Railway company and the right-of-way of the New York. Chicago and St. Louis Railroad, also labeled on the map as the Nickel Plate. The stretch of Euclid Avenue shown on this map was part of what was known as"Millionaire's Row. home to many fine estates of wealthy American industrialists, including John D. Rockefeller, Standard Oil founder and"the worlds first billionaire. The map locates Lakeview Cemetery. It is a steel plate engraving with original hand coloring as issued with the desirable floral border. It is from Mitchell's New General Atlas. Published in Philadelphia by Augustus Mitchell, 1865. However, there is an earlier copyright date of 1860 along the bottom margin in small print that states"Entered according to an Act of Congress in the year 1860 by Augustus Mitchell in the Office of the Librarian of Congress at Washington. A copy of the title page is also included for authenticity. The map is not mounted, matted nor framed being sold as a single ... moresheet as seen in the first pic. Size: The map image measures approximately 11 1/2 by 14 inches on a 12 1/4 by 15 1/4" page(31x39cm) with a margin all around as seen in the pic. Condition: It is in Good condition for its age. Printed on heavy paper, blank on the reverse with original handcolor as issued. It is basically as seen in the pics, with overall tonal aging and slight darkening around the edges. There are a few minor smudges around the margin, one spot near Elyria and some oxidation of the orange pigment on the bottom right Ohio border as seen, otherwise the map image is very clean in general with bright color and a nice antique quality that would frame up well. The pics are of the actual map and very accurate of condition and color in general, however the actual map looks much better. This is a hand-colored map of The Seventh Ward of Cleveland. Ohio. It comes from The Atlas of Cuyahoga County Ohio published by Titus, Simmons and Titus, 1874. This map of the 7th ward has railroads throughout. It is an extra long map and has been folded 3 times. This one has foxing throughout which can be seen in the pictures. This nineteenth century hand-colored map was engraved by Worley and Bracher This map is one of many of the city of Cleveland and the various wards that I need to list. There are also depictions of some of the houses of the more prosperous residents of 1874 Cleveland. There are also maps of the surrounding towns and villages. This is not a reproduction.
