It must be seen to be truly appreciated. Produced in 1948 by NORSID MFG. CO. This is a true one-of-a-kind piece of early decal art. It is beautifully designed and brightly colored with tiny, clear graphics representing all of the state's most famous locales and attractions. There is also a beautifully drawn rendition of the state bird, the Cardinal, and of course some lovely dogwood blossoms, the state's flower. This decal measures 3" wide by 4" tall and is numbered 48-NC-6 and is in very good condition for its age and rarity. It does have minor creasing and bending and the background card is a bit rough. The actual map measures approximately 11.5 by 26 inches and they were removed from the Library Reference Atlas of the World by John Bartholomew. Both maps are in good condition though there is crease down the center where the map was bound into the book. The white streak in some of my photos is the reflection from my flash. This is an original map from a"REPORT OF THE SUPERINTENDENT OF THE U.S. COAST SURVEY 1952" book. Not a copy or reproduction. It measures approx. 15" x 19" The title reads"D NO. 4- U.S. COAST SURVEY- A.D. BACHE. SUPERINTENDENT- RECONNAISSANCE OF NEW RIVER AND BAR- NORTH CAROLINA- BY THE PARTY UNDER THE COMMAND OF LIEUT. A.N. MAFFITT, U.S. NAVY ASST. U.S.C.S. IN NOVENBER 1851- SCALE 15/1000- 1852" Very good, clean condition. Crisp. There is a vertical fold and a horizontal fold. The bottom left corner has a crease and there are two vertical creases near the right edge. There are two pinholes in the center where the foldss intersect. The left margin has some small holes and nicks from disbounding. Thank you.
