The map is generally in Very Good condition. There is some wear and browning along the edges. There are some small tears and chips along the edges. There is a crease down the middle where it was originally bound. The bottom of the crease has a tear that extends just to the border line of the map. Other dings here and there. As well. This map is a great piece of US history! It will look very nice when framed. The map measures approximately 57” x 37” and it features the routes of all of the railroads that operated in the state during that time including the Pennsylvania Railroad. The Philadelphia Reading, the Lehigh Valley, the Baltimore and Ohio, the Beech Creek, and the Dunkirk and Allegheny. There are some tape stains where the seams were reinforced and some seam splits. Overall though. The map is still in pretty solid condition and would look wonderful displayed in a period frame. Rips or damage. This plate has some age toning as should be expected. The paper is single sided with a pressed fold in the middle. Overall this 165 year old steel engraving is in very fine condition. With proper matting, this map could be nicely displayed with no restoration. The size of the map is approximately 7" by 5" not including the margin area. Nice colored map on flip side, size: 14 inches by 21.5 inches. Curiously they only list the subways on the map and no elevateds. They also show the principal railroad lines in the city. Much detail at the bottom of the map with all of the named steamship lines and which dock the are at. The map is dated 1912 but I feel the brochure is a few years newer. good condition. Some fold wear on corners. Nice period piece on New York City and the great station that should have never been torn down. It was replaced with a glorified subway station that cannot handle the crowds that use it today! Good condition. For the Pennsylvania RR or New York City fan. 1855 Guide For The Pennsylvania Railroad With An Extensive Map Collins
Up for auction. One very hard to find original book, Guide for the Pennsylvania Railroad with an Extensive Map with Entire Route etc. etc. I believe this is the second edition, published in 1855 by T.J. and P.G. Collins as indicated on the cover. The book is in my opinion very good condition, particularly considering its age. It is hard cover, and pages, map, etc. are intact. The front cover is detached from the rest of the book, as the think leather spine has worn through at that bendable edge. A very easy fix, that I'll leave to the buyer. I've taken many pictures to show condition, there are obviously some stains, a bit of toning to map edge, a a few very small spots of foxing, but as should be evident from a few interior page photos it is in great condition, pages white, and not at all beat up or stained.
