Philadelphia by Joseph Scott Fine folio antique engraved map printed in America in the late 18th century. With beautiful full hand color. Wonderfully detailed. Depicts Washbash& Illinois Company land claim areas in the North-West Territory. As well as New Jersey Company, Ohio Company, Army Lands and others which surround the north of Kentucky. Within southern Kentucky are"Lands Reserved for the Virginia Troops" Tennessee is not yet a state and is occupied by the transitional South-west Territory. Which sits above a huge Georgia which extends across to the Mississippi river. Beyond this is the vast Louisiana Territory region. For your bidding consideration is this rare and wonderful antique 125 year old puzzle map called Dissected Map of the United States and published by McLoughlin Brothers Publishing in 1887. This is an early chromolithographed and jigsaw puzzle in the original box. The box cover illustration features a fantastic picture of Lady Liberty and the American flag. The box top is missing one edge but it still displays beautifully. The map features both"Indian Territory" now the state of Oklahoma) and Lower California which is now the Mexican Yucatan peninsula. The puzzle 100% complete with all 50 of the puzzle pieces as well as the matching paper key map dated 1887. Puzzle measures 18 inches by 12 inches when put together. This is a great specimen of this puzzle game and would look great in any collection. From the best papers from the time he realized his brother Francis. The famous Universal Atlas. Divided into two volumes and contains 123 cards. Francesco Santini he published between 1776 and 1780. Subsequently, the branches etching of the cards were purchased in 1781 from the press Remondini Bassano reissued the atlas. Cartographer: Gilles(1688- 1766) and Didier(c. 1723- 1786) Robert de Vaugondy were map publishers. Engravers, and cartographers active in Paris during the mid-18th century. The father and son team are descended from the important Sanson cartographic firm, from whom they inherited much of their initial material.
