This is an 1891 Grant's Railroad map of Washington. It is genuine. Not a copy or reprint. This map was removed from a salvaged copy of Grant's Bankers and Brokers Railroad Atlas. See bottom scans for title and copyright date. The maps themselves were the product of George Cram. A well know map publisher at the turn of the century. However, Grant printed the Cram's maps on heavier paper which is very nice 119 years later. Each map measures 17 1/2 X 25 inches. The map in this listing is in near excellent condition. Truly this is an investment to cherish. One could frame it and sell at a later date. Or one could make copies and recover the investment in short order. This is an 1892 Railroad map of Washington. It is genuine. Not a copy or reprint. Long considered the most beautiful of all 19th Century Railroad maps; this is the best of the best. You are looking at a map from Walker’s International Atlas. The map covers the whole of Washington as it was in 1892. The maps themselves were the product of George Cram. A well know map publisher at the turn of the century. Walker took the base Cram’s maps and added hand colored lithography, giving a light Easter egg pastel richness that is eye stopping in expression and exact detail. 1899 Walker's/Cram's Map of Washington. Handcolored with list of all Railroads.
This is a large 1899 Railroad Map of Washington. It measures 25 X 17 inches. This map has listed the railroad companies along with the area in which they cover. See scan's below) Only known copy A search of worldcat.org and all dealers stocks on the internet found no other copy of this 1899 Walker's map or the atlas that it was taken from. Walker's International Atlas" The base map was from Cram's Railway Atlas. But the plates were used to create this outstanding work of art by hand coloring the counties. The only way to properly describe the colors is compare them with Easter egg dye. This map does have a few minor handling flaws. And shows age on the edges. The book contains numerous full page engravings. Many colored. As well as a large colored bird's-eye view of Mt. Vernon and the tomb of Washington. This large and heavy book measures 9-1/2" x 6-1/2" x 2-1/8" and contains 518 numbered pages followed by a page of advertisements. All of the pages including front and rear endpages as well as numerous full page illustrations. Many colored, and a fold-out"bird's-eye" view of Mt. Meaning that they could be removed as a single intact sheet. The maps have a single fold in the center. The maps are high quality lithographs with tasteful and appealing colors. The maps are printed on one side only. Condition These maps are very good condition. The maps themselves are clean and bright. There are a few marks in the margins of a few of the maps. This will be evident in the scanned images, which are high quality and unedited. The maps are untrimmed and are suitable for framing. 1899 Antique ROYCE MAP WASHINGTON INDIAN LAND CESSION Treaties Ceded Lands
Map is ORIGINAL as published in 1899 and NOT a photocopy. For sale here is an 1899 Washington Indian Land Cessions Map showing colored areas keyed to treaties and transfers of Indian lands as described in Royce. Indian Land Cession of the United States(Part 2) Bureau of American Ethnology 1899. Map itself is not dated but accompanied the 18th Annual Report of the Bureau of American Ethnology 1896-97 Part II titled"INDIAN LAND CESSIONS IN THE UNITED STATES" compiled by Charles O. Royce. This report was published in 1899. This is a nice early map of Washington showing cities. Villages, towns, rivers and lakes. Some names I see include Kalama, Cape Disappointment, Ft. Canby, Leadbetter Pt. Shoalwater Bay, Chehalis, South Bend, Montesano, Black Hills, Port Orchard, Flattery Rocks, New Dungeness, Port Townsend, Seattle, Walla Walla, ... moreBlue Mountains, Ft. Mapped area measures approx 8" by 11 3/4" page measures approx 11" by 14 1/2" and would look great matted and/or framed Since map is larger than my scanner bed I had to scan it in 2 parts. Left half and right half. The text to Royce(Pt. 2) runs about 500 pages and is very long and detailed. It is readily available on line and is not included. The Washington info is only a very small fraction of that text. It is easy to find the references digitally by using the numbers shown on the map. Satisfaction guaranteed.
