It is highly detailed, even showing individual houses, Streets, Roads and Lanes and covers an area of about one and a half square miles They will provide hours of fascination for historians and genealogists or for anyone who just wants to see what their area looked like in the days gone bye There has been two versions of this map published. Showing how the area developed across the years. THIS IS THE 1894 ONE. I AM ALSO SELLING THE 1934 ONE SEPERATLY ON EBAY RIGHT NOW SO YOU CAN SEE THE CHANGES) Each map covers the same area a mile by a mile and a half in size. Still largely rural in 1894, stretching from Mount Pleasant and Dormers Wells Lane eastward to Hanwell Park ... moreand Cuckoo Lane; from Central London District School southward to Hanwell High Street. By 1934 the area is obviously more built up. The map covers Hanwell Village and the area north and west. With the eastern part of Southall around Burns Avenue and Dormers Wells. Features include Hanwell station, Hanwell Bridge, Broadway, Elthorne Heights, Brent Lodge Park, St Mary's church, Church Road, Mill Farm. The 1934 version includes the A-J entries from a contemporary trade directory. The maps each cover the same area, stretching from Gallery Road eastward to Honor Oak Road, and from Camberwell Cemetery southward to Thorpewood Avenue. This map was created& registered in in 1884(hand written notations on the map) by David Beatty P.L. Surveyor. This map measures about 45 1/2" x 36" is made of a type of glossy onion paper with fibers. The condition is fair& would need some restoration, there are some tears& creases through out as well as staining& discoloration. This is an early map of the area showing the expansion of Parry Sound& created by David Beatty one of the founding family's of the town. The map is a hand made copy as attested to by the Registrar(A. Up for auction is a rare original surveyors map showing a partial Plan Of Parry Sound Village. This unusual map appears to have had much use. There are four dates associated with this map dating from 1869 to 1889. The earliest date of 1869 is referenced by William Beatty(he signs& dates it 1874) when he certifies that this is a correct map created by Peter Gibson, Land Surveyor,in that year. In 1873, the surveyor Peter Gibson, of Willodale, certifies that this map is correct& above his notation is a Registration date of Dec 1874. In the top right hand corner, David Beatty, another local surveyor, has signed& dated it 1889. Finally, on the back of the map there is a small notation"Miller St. Parry Sound 1880" We are not sure why there are so many dates referenced on this map but it is impressive that three different men(two ... moreof which were founders of Parry Sound) over a span of 20 years kept certifying that the original map of 1869 is correct as it was originally registered. This map measures about 17" x 15 3/4" is made of a type of glossy onion paper with fibers. The condition is fair.
