Today I believe that these rocks are considered to the surficial expression of diatremes, a unique feature in Kansas. Here is a poor to fair condition United States Geologic Survey 15 Minute Series Topographical MAP of the NICATOUS LAKE Quadrangle of the STATE OF MAINE. It is the 1948 reprint of the 1934 edition. With 1941 corrections. It DOES NOT HAVE the green overprint that shows forested areas. It shows most of the towns of T40MD. T41MD, and T4ND, and parts of the towns of T5ND, T42MD, T34MD, T35MD, and Lakeville. This map is in poor to fair condition. There are several folds. There is soiling.
