It is from Everts The Official State Atlas of Kansas(Philadelphia: L.H. Everts& Co. 1887) one of the rarer state atlases. A copy of the title page is included for authenticity. The atlas is the first to compile and show in detail the various counties, cities and towns of Kansas. The maps show much details including towns, townships, sections, quarter sections, schools, some houses and other details. On some maps there are surveryor seals, signatures and script that were printed in the plate, many of these maps were originally procured from the Kansas Survey offices and reproduced for the atlas. The maps were first printed by lithographic process and then the color washes were hand applied, often with stencil for the large fields of color. The map is not mounted, matted nor framed being sold as seen in the pics, photographed against a dark background. There are maps and town plans on both sides as seen, so if framing one would have to choose a side to frame. Overall, a very nice rare example in very good condition for its age. Size: The entire page measures 14 by 17 1/2 inches with the map image area slightly smaller as shown in the pic with a margin all around. Condition: It is in Good condition for its age printed on a light buff page and original handcoloring as issued. It is basically as seen in the pics. There is some darkening and damp staining around the edges. Otherwise it is very clean and would frame up nicely. Pics are of the actual map. This offering features a very nice single-page. Highly-detailed, multi-color map of Philadelphia, PA. The map was rescued from Gaskell's Atlas of the World, published in 1888, which was in unsalvageable condition. The last two photos validate the origin of the map and its publishing date. This map shows Philadelphia from the Delaware River West to beyond the Schuylkill River. The streets. Avenues, squares and parks in Philadelphia are identified as they were named in 1888, plus the major hotels, prominent buildings, and railroad terminals are shown and cross referenced in the right margin. see photos) This Philadelphia map has a total page size of 10-1/2" wide x 13-1/2" long. And an image size of 9-1/8" wide x 11-7/8" long, plus additional width to accommodate references in the right margin. The map's condition ... moreis excellent, with no holes or tears in the image. This map covers the urban center of Philadelphia along both sides the Delaware and Lehigh Rivers from roughly Germantown to Red Bank and from Haddington to Camden. The map's extraordinary detail and large scale enables it to show every single street, alley, waterworks, public building, cemetery, railroad, and park then extant. Tables to the right and left of the map proper identify countless public institutions ... moreranging from libraries to offices, banks, government institutions, military installations, hospitals, colleges, asylums, dispensaries, ferries, safe deposit companies, railroad companies, and benevolent associations, among others. 1946 Street Car SUBWAY Map Philadelphia Transportation
This is an excellent Street Map of Philadelphia and Vicinity showing Street Car. Bus and Subway-Elevated Lines by the Philadelphia Transportation Company. It has a Correction glued on front cover for service on Route V and parts of Routes C and D, at bottom. It's in overall excellent condition, with just light soiling and wear. Folded, it measures 4" x 8" It unfolds to ~ 24" x 32" and has a wonderful map on one side, and a great directory of everywhere important in Philly, and routes to take to get there on the cover side. Map has Revised May 1946 date. There's just a few very small tears or pinholes at some 4 way fold intersections. It has nice Central-City District map. a PTC Lines in Montgomery and Bucks Counties map. and a PTC Lines in Delaware County map, all on lower, right side of main map. Most of this is due to the fact that I use a cardboard stiffener to prevent bending during shipping. A stiff package must be hand sorted, rather than machine sorted. If you would like me to remove the stiffener and add a more flexible protector, I can discount international shipping, but you will have to state that for my protection. I will do my best, but this will cause your package to be not as safe going through the mail system. You will have to waive the extra protection via ebay contact buyer form.
