They are printed on paper that is not acid free and in most cases have not been stored in the best way. So the maps you are buying will be in a condition that reflects both of these facts. The map you get may be worn or lightly torn along the fold lines due to the acidity of the paper and being folded for years. They may also be discolored or mottling spots again due to the acidity of the paper. The borders of the maps may also have small tears. On occasion maps may smell musty from the way they have been stored in the past. OWhen the map is kept in an open area the musty smell will fade away in time. Hence this map among a Daisy collection of maps. Approx 36" x 22" Historic undated map of the underground workings with assay values listed. From the Los Angeles Herald, Volume 35, Number 201, 20 April 1908: The Great Bend mine. The Daisy's neighbor, has come into its own. Monday the first of a long line of shipments will be made of ore that will run anywhere from $150 to $500 a ton— ore containing zinc, the first ever encountered in a Goldfleld mine, copper, gold nnd silver, the latter in small quantities. An ore shoot 125 feet long and measuring from eight to thirty Inches In width has been opened on the 300-foot level of the incline shaft and followed ... moredown for fifty feet. This ca 1908/ 1909 map is a visual representation of those assay values noting that gold was valued at considerably less in USD than it is today. Vintage 1950's Federal Glass Company Souvenir State Map Tumbler Nevada
Up for bid is a great example of the 1950's. It is a souvenir glass tumbler and it is clear glass decorated with a frosted band with a black decal of the state of Nevada as well as the capital and other things representing the state. It is signed with the Federal Glass Company mark on the bottom. It measures 5" tall and 2 3/4" across. The condition is immaculate. I have 26 others from different states. I bought them from a 92 yr. old woman who used them for nothing more than display. Please take a minute and look at my other listings which are varied and different. I will combine postage I have considerable inventory I need to consolidate and doesn't help that I keep adding to it. I particularly like the 1940's and 1950's but do list other items so check back. Original Primitive Antique 1872 Warner& Beers Map of California& Nevada 18X15 This beauty did not come from the auction. But from a local small antique sale that I went to recently. The dealer had several(what once were) old book page maps, and I chose my favorite, and for where many of my customers live. This is an old map, and it is unframed, so you will need to frame it. What a wonderful display piece it will make for you, though! In most of the photos, I'm showing you the map how I purchased it- inside of a sleeve and on top of cardboard. We will leave it this way for shipping(of course we will pack, though- I didn't want you to think that I'd fold or roll it, I will not) Please do not buy if you do not want it shipped flat, or buy and then ask me to roll or fold, as I will not- and do not think I can secure it's ... moresafety doing do. This map is from the 1872 publication of Warner& Beer's Atlas of the United States- Map of Nevada and California. It has the map on one side and is blank on the other. I removed only a little(pulled out) and very carefully from the sleeve to take photos of the blank backside- see photo 19. The map is a nice size for framing- it measures 18" by 15, and it is in excellent overall condition. You can see that the paper has browned lightly- more so on the edges than anywhere- and all original, giving it a WONDERFUL rustic primitive charm. There's some small carmel colored foxing marks that you can see mostly on the left side of the map- along the coast, with some on land(small and a lot less) The top and right edges(and corners all over) show some small nibbles/chips all over- especially on the side that would have been in the spine(the right side) with less on the top. They are small and very shallow- on the edges only. Some are recent chip offs, with the small pieces of paper inside of the sleeve- I've left them there. 1907 Albemarle Gold Mining& Milling Co Map and Letter Goldfield Nevada Promoted by Colorado interests by owners of the Colorado Springs gold mine of the same name. This map was sent to W H Bryant of Goldfield early in 1907. Bryant was associated with the Mohawk mine and major mine operators. The map is useful for showing quite a number of other surrounding properties of the time, prior to conglomeration and consolidation of the district by the Goldfield Consolidated Mines Co.
