Rand McNally World Atlas illustrating states and territories in the United States as they appeared at the time. well over 100 years ago. Looking over these maps I am amazed at how many differences there are today. Sellers Inventory no. M1898002457) Please use the photos I have taken to determine the condition of the map. It has light discoloration. As expected for it's age. This is an amazing detailed map and with some care it can be mounted and framed to enjoy a piece of history. This is the actual original ... moreitem and not a copy. As it was always in a book the colors have been wonderfully preserved. These will look wonderful framed and hung on your wall and will be sure to give you pleasure for years to come. They are very attractive. Detailed and colorful maps that give us a glance into the past, and have been lots of fun pouring over them for hours by myself, and with friends, looking at the huge differences that have occurred in the last four to five generations. The occasional edge damage such as a tear. Foxing and even the rare stain or crease does appear on a few of these maps that I have for sale, however, any damage that affects the map itself( as opposed to the edge) will be listed above. Only 11,497 people in Los Angeles at this time. The very large Tulare Lake on this map is now farmland. The very sparsely populated Nevada has only 14 counties. These county. State, city& country maps are some of the most ornate and beautifully coloured maps published in the US in the 19th century. For over 50 years, Mitchell his son's and their successors were the most prominent cartographical ... morepublishers of maps and atlases in the United States. Samuel Augustus Mitchell was born in Bristol. Connecticut on March 20, 1792. His father emigrated from Scotland in 1773. While little is know about his early schooling, it is know that Mitchell found the quality of early geography text books to be lacking, and determined that he would write and publish better works. This decision led him to relocate to Philadelphia in 1829 or 1830, which was then the center of commercial publishing in America. Mitchells first cartographic work was the re-issue of Anthony Finleys New American Atlas in 1831. A work first issued by Finley in 1826, in response to Henry Schenk Tanners monumental work of the same title, issued in serial format from 1818 to 1822 and as a complete work from 1823 onward. While the map content in Mitchells edition of the New American Atlas are same as Finleys edition, each map has been significantly improved and revised, primarily with the addition of new owns and roads. This is especially true in the South and West. Finley had originally collaborated with D.H. Vance and J.H. Young in the preparation of the maps. Vances name is removed from the Mitchell edition. Mit

This brochure is not dated but looks to be early 20th century and was probably published around 1910 or so. The front cover panel indicates this company maintained main offices at Pueblo, Colorado. This brochure is 100% complete and fully intact. This brochure shows some foxing. Has a few nicks on the edges and was folded across the center but is fully complete and in good shape overall. I have about 100 different maps that I purchased from an estate sale. I did not take photo's of the inside of the maps as most are unused and in great cond. They were kept in a library in shoe boxes so no improper storage to give smells or deterioration. There is one or two that have an up turned corner which is visible in the pictures and is easily fixed by putting under a heavy object. A couple have a soil marking which is also visible in photo's. If there is anything notable on this inside of the maps I will be certain to mention it. If no mention you can be assured there is no problem. If there is a flaw or defect it will be written in red. Here is a 8 1/2" x 26" felt pennant from Las Vegas Nevada from around the 1950s. There is a Nevada map. Hoover(Boulder) Dam, people playing roulette, and a cowboy on his horse. This does have some wear and small tears closer to it's tip and is missing the strips on the end. The picture is fine and overall ok.
