This lot is for a vintage wall/school map. Rand McNally& Co. New York. Chicago, San Francisco Map of the US. Titled: THE STRUGGLE FOR A CONTINENT 1498-1763. The original colonies and Louisiana are depicted on this map. Colors are wonderful. In the bottom right of the map are the following codes: 9P67 EMA 101. The metal top rail measures 62" L. When unrolled the map measures 58" W x 51" H. The MAP ALONE with the white border is 58" W x 38 1/2" H. Condition Issues: Please read carefully. The map itself is in good condition. There is a top metal rail and a wooden dowel at the top and bottom of the map. The spring mechanism is BROKEN. It does not pull up and down. I will ship it rolled up. The bottom dowel is broken too. There is a tear in the top of the map near the top rail. The tear is NOT inside the framework ... moreof the map. Rather above it. There are spots on the back of the map. They might come off if cleaned. But I did not attempt to clean them. This map would look great off of the roller mechanism and mounted to a wall or framed. GREAT ART PIECE. Made in the USA. The map stretches from east of Pensacola in Florida and encompasses most of Louisiana and Texas extending north beyond Santa Fe- note rather dramatic distortion to Baja California. Bonne is perhaps best known today for his early maps of the nascent United States which was still in the midst of the Revolutionary War when this map was published- indeed Bonne's maps of the period are among the first to name the"Ḗtats-Unis" as such. Including U.S. Route 66, with cartography by Rand McNally. The Texas map is on one side, with inset plans of Big Bend National Park and Dallas-Fort Worth. Arkansas. I have for sale a vintage map of Louisiana from 1971. Published by the Louisiana Department of Highways. It measures 32"x30" and features a large road map, city index, and mileage table on one side and individual major city maps and specific interstate maps on the other side. It is in good condition with no writing, tears, or stains. It is a little yellow from age but shows very minimal wear. I will leave all my buyers positive feedback. Like his predecessor, used the position for furtherance of his private atlas publications. Both Raynal's'Atlas de toutes les parties connues du Monde' of 1780-81 and the'Atlas Encyclopaedique' of 1787-88 owe much to the massive map resources of the French naval ministry. This detailed map. Measures 43" by 60" The map is in fair condition. Damage includes having the bottom dowel taped on. Cracks, and also discolor on the bottom 2-3 inches from exposure to light and dust. Extends from Louisiana to the Atlantic Ocean and from Tennessee to central Florida. Milledgeville is still the capital of Georgia. Beautifully executed. Attractive hand color, will frame nicely.
