There is a copyright in small print in the bottom margins stating"Entered according to Act of Congress in the year 1872 by Asher& Adams. It is not matted nor framed being sold as a single sheet as shown in the main pic, blank on the reverse. Overall, a very nice map that would frame up nicely. It is a fairly scarce map in a large elephant folio format that is very detailed for the period rivaling the more common Johnson atlas of the period in terms of detail, size and color. Overall a very nice map that would frame up well. Size: The dimensions of the map area between the neat lines measures 16 by 22 inches(41x56cm) on a page measuring 17 1/2 by 24 1/4" 44x62cm) with a margin all around as seen in the main pic. Condition: The map is in Fair condition with overall tonal ageing. Original hand coloring, blank on the reverse, printed on a heavy page. There is some darkening and dampstaining in the margins, a chipped bottom corner, inch separation at the bottom of the centerfold and a few minor spots as seen in the pics, see the pic for more on condition. Interesting and detailed pre civil war county and railroad map. Shows chief cities& county seats. Extends from Missouri to Virginia and from southern Michigan to Kentucky. Beautifully executed. Attractive hand color, will frame nicely. Overall average condition with moderate ageing. Centerfold is intact. Low starting bid with no reserve. Postage charge is for domestic insured priority mail.

Beautiful HTF vintage 1947 World Book Encyclopedia map Indiana colorful LOOK!
This is a map of the state of Indiana from the limited printing of the 1947 post-war edition of the World Book Encyclopedia. It Is really a pretty map; the colors are bright. The printing is crisp, and it is in great condition. This map is a 2-page spread disbound from the encyclopedia. It was tipped in using a separate little tongue of paper, so the map itself was not cut as it was removed. There is a crease down the center where it was folded in the book. The map was a little too big to fit on my scanner, so not all of it is shown in the scan. It has a white border all the way around it. The map is 9 1/2 inches by 13 1/2 inches. The altitude is color-coded, from green for the lowest altitude through yellow and orange to red for the highest altitude. I don't know much about maps, so I don't know how this one was made. It has an old-fashioned ... morelithographed look to it, but I think I can see dots when I look at it through a magnifying glass. On the back of the map Indiana towns are listed with their location and population(circa 1947) This is such a nice-looking map! It would look great framed. Up for bids is a 1932 map lithographed by Oval& Koster of Indianapolis. Published by Department of Conservation, State of Indiana entitled"A Map of Indiana Showing its History, Points of Interest and the Holdings of the Dept. of Conservation. Lee Carter Cartographer 1932. The map is in excellent condition printed on HEAVY paper and has previously been folded into eighths altho' I've kept it stored folded into quarters and that's the way it will be shipped. It measures 24.5" wide x 35" tall. The only real condition issues other than the fold lines are some very small tears in the margin along some of the fold lines. All in all, in excellent condition for something over 80 years old. Vintage Gulf Oil Indiana Road Map - No date, but before 1956
I can't find a date on this road map. But I did find a notation that a turnpike was to be completed in the fall of 1956. I found a few brown spots on the inside, but that might be able to be cleaned off, and a dog ear on the front, but the only tears I found are minute ones on some of the inside corners and no markings on it. It was stored in a smoke-free pet-free home. If you buy more of my father's maps, I will send them together and adjust the postage. I ship the next mail day after I receive the Paypal payment, so if you plan to bid on ones that end in a day or two, I'd need to know that and wait to mail them.

Minor browning to edges, small creases in two corners, light wear, otherwise fine. This state of the map shows Indiana without Newton County, which was abolished in 1839. For an earlier state of the map, with Newton County, see my store. The New Universal Atlas was first published by Henry Tanner starting in 1836. Mitchell published it under his own name starting in ... more1846, and he continued publishing it until 1849. In 1850, the copyright to Mitchell’s atlas was first acquired by Thomas, Cowperthwait& Co. and then in 1856 by Charles DeSilver, both Philadelphia publishers. Thomas, Cowperthwait added five maps for their 1853 edition. Comments: A large and highly detailed map that is an excellent candidate for matting and framing. On the reverse side is a patial list of the cities. Towns and counties with population when available, plus a history of the state. Note the size of the map. There is greater detail than what is found on smaller maps General Information: Seldom available and relatively rare. I am pleased to offer these C. 1890's individual maps salvaged from a Rand McNally& Co.s Atlas(elephant folio) Each map is copyrighted with a year in the 1890's and some a little earlier. All the maps are printed on heavy paper; they are aquatinted and display much more detail than smaller ... moremaps. Any relevant faults such as foxing, tears, holes or stains are disclosed if they affect the map area and are visually detracting. You will note that these maps are very larger and at least double the size of most other maps available. Rand McNally published a number of smaller-sized atlases, some with a similar name and same year, so in comparing, pay particular attention to the map size. The larger maps have more detail and additional description. These maps were tipped into the atlas and therefore contain no staple marks. Most of the maps are double-page and therefore have a crease down the center and the tipping strip on the reverse. The crease may be professionally pressed out. But the crease mark will never completely disappear. It should also be expected that the page edges will show some minor wear but the wear will not be noticeable after being matted and framed. The overall condition of these 100+ year old maps is very good but they all show age toning as the result of being exposed to air and more specifically moisture in the air. The paper is not so much white as a light cream tone which tends to deepen closer to the edge. There may be sporadic foxing which

There are a few minor smudges around the margin, one spot near Elyria and some oxidation of the orange pigment on the bottom right Ohio border as seen, otherwise the map image is very clean in general with bright color and a nice antique quality that would frame up well. The pics are of the actual map and very accurate of condition and color in general, however the actual map looks much better. I don't find a date on this map but The Refiners Oil Company of Dayton was purchased by Standard Oil in 1930 and became part of SOHIO at that time so this would be pre-1930 for sure. The Refiners Oil Company was the first chain to begin selling Charles Kettering's Ethyl gasoline in 1923. I believe this map probably dates to the mid 1920s. The total size of the two pages measures approximately 13 1/8” x 9 ¼” While the map itself, varies in size somewhat, but generally measures approximately 11” x 8 3/8” The map itself is dated somewhere in the ten-year period prior to publication of the atlas. Of the 62 map listings. 58 of them are made up of a two-page map that was center-bound in the atlas. This means that the maps are in two-parts. 1919 map of Indiana. 10 X 13.5 inches. Genuine. detailed
Interesting map of Indiana. Map measures 10 X 13.5 inches. Printed on thin paper. The map is not dated. But they came out of a loose leaf binder that has a copyright date of 1919, see above scan of copyright date. Map will come carefully rolled in kraft paper and inside a strong pvc mailing tube. We do not mail flat due to maps being folded. Shoved through mail slots and arriving in terrible condition. We like to get maps to our customers in the same condition as they left. Tracking number will be sent and we get our maps out in one business day. We gladly combine shipping when buying multiple maps from our store. Vintage INDIANA Dept. Conservation map 1932 (revised 1954) LEE CARTER Lithograph
Up for your consideration today is a vintage Indiana Department of Conservation map 1932(Revised 1954) Lee Carter Cartographer. By the Success Printing& Lithographing Co. Indianapolis. Depicts a map of Indiana showing its history, points of interest, and the holdings of the Indiana Dept. of Conservation. Map measures approx. 34-5/8" x 24-3/4" Informative and interesting. With nice coloring. Map was once folded, and therefore creased, creases have been taped on the backside(old brown tape) and shows thru, it was found rolled up and seems to have been rolled up for a while(will ship rolled) there is an ink signature at the bottom front right corner of"E. Ruby Byerley" there is obvious damage to the poster that the numerous photos show(staining, edge fraying, edge tears, some seam separation that the tape is holding together, ... moreyellowing, cracks, creases, is probably from a smoker's home, estate sale find) In my opinion the wear adds to the old paper nostalgia look. Piece is simply in need of a nice framing job to keep it from deteriorating any more. Please view photos carefully to help in determining the poster's cosmetic condition. Photo 11 shows the most wear at the top right area. No returns. Poster will be carefully packaged in a rigid walled cardboard poster mailer, Continental US shipping ONLY.
