Meaning that they could be removed as a single intact sheet. The maps have a single fold in the center. The maps are high quality lithographs with tasteful and appealing colors. The maps are printed on one side only. Condition These maps are very good condition. The maps themselves are clean and bright. There are a few marks in the margins of a few of the maps. This will be evident in the scanned images. Which are high quality and unedited. The maps are untrimmed and are suitable for framing. Remarks The quality of these maps surpasses that of most. If not all, its American-produced contemporaries. These maps are much nicer than any of the Rand McNally or Cram's ... moreAtlas editions I've seen. For the 55 maps covering U.S. states. This is an 1896 Railroad map of Idaho. It is genuine. Not a copy or reprint. Long considered the most beautiful of all 19th Century Railroad maps; this is the best of the best. You are looking at a map from Walker’s International Atlas. The map covers the whole of Idaho as it was in 1896. The maps themselves were the product of George Cram. A well know map publisher at the turn of the century. Walker took the base Cram’s maps and added hand colored lithography, giving an Easter egg pastel richness that are eye stopping in expression and exact detail. We have heard about a few later and one earlier than 1896. Worldcat.org shows that a few pages. I.e. Maps from the 1896 edition, this one, are at the University of Chicago and the Detroit Public Library. This means that the historical societies, reference libraries, railroad collections, and ... moremuseums have never seen these or are unaware of their existence and the importance these maps made on the future of Railroad maps in the United States and Canada. Possibly the title has caused it to be overlooked. Nowhere is to be found that this is a Railroad atlas by its title. It would fall through the cracks and be filed under the numerous names of regular atlases so popular during this time period. Each map measures 17 1/2 X 25 inches. The maps in this listing are in near excellent condition. With only very minor handling. Truly this is an investment to cherish. This is a large 1888 Railroad Map of Idaho. It measures 14 X 21 inches. Map was taken from the Rand McNally New Business Atlas which is very rare and highly sought after. This map is genuine. Not a copy or reprint. It may have a few minor handling flaws as to be expected in a map this age and large. Please see scan. The Rand McNally Business Atlas first printed in 1876. Was still in transition in 1881. Rand McNally was experimenting with different methods so that shipping clerks would find the railroads on the maps with speed and exactness. 1899 Large Color Map Idaho This is a 100+ Year-Old Map- NOT a Reproduction(Scan of Atlas Copyright Page below) Printed on a single sheet with a fold in the center. Bordered map size is about 13" x 20" with margins sufficient to allow matting or framing-pictured below without the full margins to allow image to load a little quicker. Too big for my large scanner so scanned in two passes and then combined for the image below. A laser-printed facsimile of the copyright information as it appears in the atlas from which this original map was removed will be included. On a peel-off. Self-adhesive sheet.
