A complete 1835 Bradford Comprehensive Atlas edition can sell upwards for $7.000! The outline handcoloring that you see is all original and is how it was issued in the atlas. The border is a sage green wash as originally issued as well. This is a stunning and very detailed map which is hand colored in wonderfully intense colors. Political boundaries as well as individual regions/counties and shows towns. Roads, railways, rivers, lakes, bays, harbors, islands and other important places are shown. The map is in great condition considering the age of the map. The overall size of the map sheet is large at approximately 11 inches by 9 inches. The map is far more beautiful than my pictures show. Lot of 16 Vintage Antique Map Chart IL River Islands Lakes RR Industrial Decor
For your consideration is this lot of 16 large cloth backed maps/charts of sections of the Illinois River. The pieces all measure 42 1/2" wide and vary from 6' 12' in length. The maps were made by the UNITED STATES ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS 1902-1904. The maps show elevations(flood zone) Geological basin content, present land use as well as property owners names and boundaries. The photos shown are of one particular map, typical of what is in the lot. The maps are in nice vintage condition with though there are some tears/chips around the edges. The linen cloth backer and heavy paper map are in good condition for age with no holes out in the main body. There are some pencil notations here and there, but look to be very old and professionally done.probably by the engineers. I believe the blue and white in the waterways was hand ... moredone. The photos really do not do the maps justice.the natural aging of the paper with its varied discoloration really looks good. You will not be disappointed in this lot of huge maps. Welcome to my listing for a very cute and colorful decorative plate from CatStudio. Featuring the great state of Minnesota, Land of 10,000 Lakes, and all the many things it's known for! The design, reminiscent of vintage travel souvenirs, shows an outline of the state with little images of people(famous locals like Prince and Bob Dylan and Paul Bunyan) and places(Lake Wobegon, Duluth, the Mayo Clinic) and things like the loon, the walleye, and a mosquito labelled"State Bird. The stoneware ceramic plate measures about 8 inches across, and is deliberately made with a slightly irregular shape and thinly-glazed feel"inspired by 1950s Italian pottery. Printing on the back side says the plate is part of the Geography Collection and that it's dishwasher and microwave safe. It is copyright 2011 and was Made In China. This plate ... moreis in great shape. With no cracks, chips, stains, or crazing. I can feel a tiny manufacturing flaw under the glaze on the plate's face, about the size of a grain of table salt- hard to see in the busy design, but your hand will feel it. Bellin provided a huge number of maps for L'Abbe Prevost's'Histoire Generale des Voyages' A 25 volume plus work describing the discoveries, journeys and settlements of seventeenth and early eighteenth century European powers. Reduced from Bellin's famous large maps of 1744 and 1755, comes from a 1757 French edition of"Histoire. It shows the area as far east as Montreal and as far south as thje"Chicagou" river. This colorful and humorous pictorial map depicts the Naval Training Center in Great Lakes. Illinois. The station is located north of Chicago and is the Navy's only boot camp. The map is filled with hundreds of buildings and important sites with a key at bottom, along with many illustrations including the Loch Ness monster in Lake Michigan, a sailor courting an evil-looking mermaid, and Poseidon roasting a hot dog with his trident. The verso contains black& white photographs and text describing life at the training center. Created by Robert Gadbois and Theodore Ritter. There are a number of tiny splits at fold intersections.
