This map is fairly large. Measuring 18" x 14" 46cm x 35.5cm) This particular map is of Delaware& Maryland. Alvin Johnson began publishing maps in 1860. For the first 2 years he published maps with the attribution to Johnson& Browning. In 1862 he began to publish maps under the name Johnson& Ward. This map was produced in 1862 and is a first edition Johnson& Ward map. You can tell the early edition maps by the different boarder around the edge(which we find is much nicer than later editions) This boarder was only used until 1863. The map is original and has not been restored. The hand ... morecoloring is original to 1862. These maps are not uncommon however the earlier editions are much harder to find. We also find the earlier edition maps have a much nicer color. The color of this map is very vibrant(don't let the pictures fool you. They are very difficult to photograph and much nicer in person) Attention to detail was also better. All of the coloring is within the proper lines with no spill over. There is little to no fox marks on this map. Please take a close look at the pictures to be the final judge of condition. You will get exactly what is shown. This map has not been trimmed. The map is complete. There is nothing on the reverse side. Johnson's maps have become iconic maps to hang on the walls of American homes. Professionally framed and matted there are few that compare. This is a 1915 Railroad map of the Muncie Belt Railway. Delaware Co. Indiana. It measures 12 X 9 inches. Map is from a salvaged 1915 annual report for the year ending December 31. 1915. Buyer will receive a copy of the 1915 index page of the annual report printed out on standard sized paper along with the map to prove authenticity. As this map will surely increase in value as originals disappear from the market place and are replaced by digital copies. Map will be sent priority mail rolled in a strong tube to assure that map arrives safely. We don't trust flat mailings. The whole map would not fit in our scanner. So we have shown a cropped image. The map you receive will have a rough edge and usually a tab that was used to find the map within the annual report. Has a very small crease in the upper right hand corner.There is a very small tear in the outer left edge towards the upper left hand corner. Map has begun to yellow especially around the edges. Overall in good condition. We obtain most of our items from estate sales or auctions. Most items are used. We do our best to desribe items but may miss something. The original book was very good condition. With few tears or marks on the maps-there was some discoloration of the paper due to the use of high-acid paper and the heavy stock cover has become brittle with age. The scans came out beautifully and were able to be lightened. Because it was scanned at high resolution, the pages may be enlarged to over 400% for easy reading of each detail. Several pages from the CD are shown here as example of content. However they are at reduced definition for viewing on Ebay.

Vintage Gulf Oil Tourguide Map for the states of Pennsylvania. Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia dated 1966. The map is in good condition with no writing or major rips. There are two small holes at the creases and the bottom edge has some minor rips, the worst of which is shown in the pictures. There is some discoloration along the edges, most likely due to age. The map is in mint condition. Please see grading description below. See picture for additional information. Description Grade Absolutely crisp: no soil. Wear, or creases. Station stamp is acceptable, as are small wrinkles introduced in printing. Age toning acceptable only if even. MINT As above. But minor edge wear seen. Light pencil marking okay. Age toning may be uneven. NEAR MINT As above. Professional routing marks or a minor annotation okay. Creases show usage. But map has not been misfolded. EXCELLENT As above. But wear is evident. Corners of inner creases may be beginning to separate, but less than 1 cm. May be rippled from water damage/high ... morehumidity but may not be foxed. Any dogear creases are not torn.
