This auction is for the map of the two cities: Washington. DC and Georgetown from the Johnson's New Illustrated Family Atlas of the World, by Prof. A.Guyot. This map is in its original unrestored state. This is a single page map. There is one fairly obvious stain in the map of which I have taken a picture. Except for that, there are no other major problems other than normal aging for a map of this age. This hand colored map is still very nice even with the imperfections. These maps were given to me from an estate to sell. I say this for transparency. As I will not be of much help in grading the shape of the maps. However, I will answer any question as quickly as I can. I do have the entire book(covers are in very poor condition) but it has already been split up. Connecticut, and Rhode Island, printed more than 72 years ago. This map opens to 20" x 27" and has great detail on old highway alignments. With cartography by H.M. Gousha. The map was distributed by the Tide Water Associated Oil Company in 1941 to promote its Tydol Flying A gasoline and Veedol motor oil. It is dated by the code number in the lower margin: O-2. First page is a map of the Potomac River Region. 2nd is Map of the Rockcreek region and last page is a map of the Anacostia River or Eastern Branch Region. All part of District of Columbia. There are some rips. Tears to be expected but the maps are still intact. Someone has written in the date of 1883 which could be accurate as most of the other stuff from same box is around that era. Perhaps the map maker or designer will help to determine the exact age. I am not a map expert& cannot say the date is accurate. Condition good but fragile. Front page loose, and a few tears.
