Both along rivers and seas. There are supposed to be 60 maps, but the first 6 are unfortunately missing(some remnants remain, but not much) Though the 6 are missing, it is astonishing to even find this book to begin with, especially at the low low starting price you can get this at! Most of the others are being offered at buy it nows! Do not let this book pass you up! 11.5" x 10" Some light wear to the exterior. Mainly light fading to the spine, and hinge split by the front board. Minimal foxing on the inside of the boards. Clean interior ... morewith the occasional blemish. Light crinkling to the title page as seen. A couple pages have tears in them, but nothing major. The 54 maps are for the most part, very nice and clean with minimal foxing throughout(mainly on the backs if there is some) There are some tears(mainly by where the maps connect to the book) and some extra creasing from someone improperly folding the maps(mainly the edges by the binding) which is typical with a book like this. Overall though, very nice. I post vintage and collectible books multiple times a week. So be sure to keep an eye out as you never know what may show up! Thanks for looking. Sketches by Whistler lithograph U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey 1854. This is when Whistler worked for the Geodetic Survey as an illustrator. The chart is in good condition. With some creasing in the area inside the black border, as seen in photo. The surface of the chart, inside the black border is very good and will display nicely. I am unsure of the exact date this litho was printed, but my dad obtained it in 1955 when he was in the Navy, working for the Naval Oceanographic Office. Measures 10.5x8 inches. There are no impression marks on this item.

Survey Marker, Brass, U.S, Coast & Geodetic Survey Azimuth Mark
From the inventory of the manufacturer when they closed for business in 1996. Made by the D. Ballauf Manufacturing Company of Washington DC. Normally these survey markers or or bench marks have a long tube or other protrusion to anchor them in concrete. Out of each lot the company made one with a threaded stud soldered to the back. This one was offered to the buyer if they wanted to mount it on a plaque. This marker was never sold to the client! The marker is about 3-1/2" in diameter with a 3/4" to 7/8" 10-32 stud on the back.
