Civil and Topographical Engineer with a 1873 copyright date in small print along the bottom border. A copy of the title page is included. The map is not mounted, matted nor framed, being sold as a single sheet as seen in the main pic. A very rare and beautiful early Railroad map of Illinois. Size: The map image measures approximately 15 1/2 by 26 inches on a 17 1/4 by 28 1/2" page with a wide margin all around as seen in the pic. Condition: The ... moremap is in Good to Very Good condition with overall tonal aging with some darkening around the edges and a centerfold as issued. Balnk on reverse, basically as seen in the pics. There are a couple of slightly clipped corners and splits of an inch and two inches at the ends of the centerfold, repaired on reverse. Other than some darkening and a few short tear on the edge, the map is very clean with no obvious distracting defects. It is a strong impression with bright color that would frame up very nicely. Map/guide put out by the Chicago Motor Coach Company[CMCC] in the 1920's. A very popular open-air double-decker tour bus attraction of that era. CMCC started around 1920 and 1922. it came about through the merger of three motorbus carriers. Chicago Motor Bus Co. the Chicago Stage Co. and the Depot Motor Bus Lines. In 1922, when it was the second-largest urban bus company in the US, Chicago Motor Coach was purchased by John D. Hertz, a Chicago auto dealer and owner of the Yellow Cab Co. In 1924, Hertz merged Chicago Motor Coach and the Fifth Avenue Motor Coach Corp. of New York City, creating the Omnibus Corp. In 1952, when it owned nearly 600 buses, Chicago Motor Coach's operations were taken over by the Chicago Transit Authority(CTA) the city's public mass-transit. The first is a Souvenir Edition of the Chicago Sunday Tribune dated July 1. 1934 with the headline 1934 World’s Fair In Pictures. It is Part 4. It folds out to 24 inches in size. Inside is another section with four large pages of news and a large map of the Fair…headline says“A Finer World’s Fair For Millions Who Will Flock To Chicago” There are five pictures in this layout…the Swift Exhibit, the Italian Village drawing, the Black Forest Village, the Ford Building etc. The other pages are 1934 news stories. The six pages are clean. I do not know if they are from the same July 1.1934 issue or from two issues. There are a few chips and small rips here and there but a very clean and nice item. The second very ... moreinteresting item is from the Chicago Daily News. It is a“Souvenir Of A Century Of Progress 1934 Chicago World’s Fair May 26-November 1” It is a“Photogravure Issue. It has six pages with pictures of Chicago and the Fair as well as large ads for Marshall Field& Company and the North Chicago Laundry and others. The four inside pages are in very good condition but the cover page has a 12 inch rip that almost cuts off the top right corner. There are creases where the papers fold with small rips in them. Official Guide Book to the 1934 Chicago World's Fair. Includes fold-out map showing the layout of the fairgrounds and the events with free events printed in red. There is also a promotion page from a major telegraph company with initials W.U. with pre-printed messages(related to the fair) that could be sent anywhere in the U.S. for 25 cents. This book has some foxing inside the front and back covers. Curled cover corners, light wear to the spine and the previous owner's name written in pencil on the back cover.
