Size: The dimensions of the map area between the neat lines measures approximately 12 1/2 by 19 inches(32x48cm) on a page measuring 14 1/2 by 21" 37x53cm) with a margin all around as seen in the main pic. Condition: The map is in Fair to Good condition with very light tonal aging and a centerfold as issued. There are dampstains on the upper corners as seen see the pic. Offering an original copy of the 1939 Chicago 21st ward 53 election precincts. Dated Nov 1-1939 and in pencil 11-2-40. Issued by The Board of Election Commissioners: Harry A. Lipsky. Mabel G. Reinecke, William B. Daly, John Struach(Chief Clerk) Edmund K. Jarecky(County Judge) Map is yellowing from age. Appears to have originally been folded to fit into an envelope for mailing. After that is was folded in half. Resulting in multiple creases. Top center was folded over. There are a few light pencil marks on map and 1 very small tear near top on outside margin. I've seen many. Many items from this fair, but this kind is very rare. It is a promotional giveaw ay circular. That was a combined Railway Coupon and Map. From the French Bakery Concession at the fair. That was passed out for free. If you spent 30 cents at the bakery. And handed in this coupon, you could get a free ticket to ride the Intramural Railway. That was worth 10 cents. It has a complete outline grid map of the fair with a full legend of the 156 locations printed in black ink. Red ink was used to mark the bakery and highlight features. And print special information. The map is printed on heavy stock semi-glossy paper 14" tall by 9" wide. It shows some light signs of wear around the edges. Offered for consideration is this near mint condition 1970 Chicago city street map. Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Published by the Rand McNally Co. City street maps were often difficult to find in stock. I traveled the county extensively during the early 1970s and picked up maps like this one from the local gas stations. They were free then. Shortly after the 1973 Arab Oil Embargo. These maps started being offered for a charge, usually a dollar or so but, by then the driving public had grown accustomed to getting them free so, their distribution dropped off dramatically. Maps like this one marked the end of a motoring related era. Essentially all of my maps were put away in a box decades ago and remain in nearly new condition-no tears or dog ears or marks…an outstanding find for collectors. Historians, and geographers. The booklet measures 4" x 8" and has 32 pages + card stock covers and a large fold-out map. The fold-out map of Chicago measures 15-1/4" x 15" The map is in excellent condition) The booklet has Exposition notes of interest. 2 pages of brief biographies of leading officials, 2 pages of descriptions of fair buildings, a map of the expo with a State building key, photos of leading men and women, there is a page of artwork for each of 11 buildings, several pages of a"Reliable guide to the stranger" and the back cover has artwork of the Mandel Brothers Department Store in Chicago. A massive 647-page work bound in navy blue cloth with gilt stamped Seal of the State of New York on front cover and gilt-stamped lettering on cover and spine. Filled with photographic plates depicting the exhibit of New York at the Fair. As well as housing a large foldout color map of New York State and its mineral deposits in a rear pocket. It doesn't look to have been used as all. Nice color and no creasing. The paper is really thick on this one compared with the ones from the 1960's. It includes a road map for Northern Indiana and Southwest Michigan. It includes list of cities and towns. Along with golf courses and country clubs too.
