IN SEARCHING WORLDCAT, I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND ANYONE THAT HAS THIS ORIGINAL VERSION. NOT EVEN THE LEVENTHAL. AN IMPORTANT EARLY DOCUMENTATION OF THE PROPERTY AND TOWN GROWTH OF THE FAMOUS MASSACHUSETTS TOWN. THIS IS A VERY LARGE MAP MEASURING 33 1/2 X 88 INCHES. You have found: A wonderful large wall sized map of the Town or Riga in Monroe County New York. This map is from the year 1902 and measures 32 by 22 inches! The map is in color. This map is NOT A REPRODUCTION. But has come out of the original Plat Book of Monroe County. The map shows the town of Clarkson as well as all the villages and hamlets. Churchville NY is among them. The really wonderful thing about this map is that it shows the names. The size of the acreage and the locations of buildings for all of the property owners in the year 1902! It is a treasure trove of historical and genealogical information! It also shows wheather the homes were made of brick, stone or other materials. It even gives the elevation above sea level at various points on the map. The map itself is in very good condition. Antique map of Southern Nigeria showing the locations of Church missions based on the Ordnance Survey map of 1905(cr) Description This appears to be a hand-drawn map of the area of South Nigeria around the mouth of the Calabar and Cross Rivers based on the Ordnance Survey of 1905 As well as showing the geography of the area it highlights the church missions of the area. Apart from the Methodist mission at James Town there appears to be no indication of which denomination the missions represent This is the area that the famous Scottish missionary. Mary Slessor, was active in, between 1876 and her death in 1915, originally in Calabar and later in Okoyong. She worked on behalf of the United Presbyterian Church. so these well may be the missions indicated The map appears to be a hand-drawn map of the area based on the Ordnance Survey of 1905. ... moreIf so it is extremely well done. Although the references down the left-hand margin show 74-J. This is an antique roll-up wall map of the United States and Mexico.in tender and shabby condition paper mounted on a linen backing. It is signed. Constructed& Engraved by W. A.K. Johnston, Ltd. Geographers Engravers& Printers Edinburgh, and London" William and his brother Alexander Keith Johnston formed the company in the earlier 1800s and the company remained functioning until 1960. This old map, which measures 34" wide and 26" tall, shows no date, though I think there might have been one but is on a the bottom corner part which got stuck to the wooden dowel that it is mounted on. My guess is that is from the mid to late 1800s. It does have a vertical slit in the the upper mid section and has chipping and the edges are worn and chipping.but the backing really keeps it together. It has a small ring attached to the ... moretop dowel for hanging.and the dowels are about 36" long and are split and screwed together to hold the map.
