Antique Maps of Washington and Virginia 1890s 19th Century US State Map
Antique maps of Washington and Virginia from an atlas published in the late 19th Century. These US state maps are printed back to back. So only one can be displayed at a time. Framed, these make great wall decor for an office, den or just about any room in the house. Condition: Good. Lots of aging around the margins. Which just adds to the appeal of the old maps. The paper is fairly fragile, so map page will need to be protected from less than careful handling. Note: the page was just a bit too big for the scanner, so part of the margin areas is not shown. Approximate dimensions: Page: 11.5 x 9 in/ 29 x 23 cm* Maps: 10.25 x 7.5 in/ 26 x 19 cm 10FS161160 Paper Condition Because most of the prints and advertisements were once in books or magazines. They all have at least a small bit of wear. Although there are differences in the amount of wear, ... moreitems and prints are worthy of framing or another type of display. Items of interest that are in less than“good” condition are sometimes offered in small lots for scrapbookers, collage artists, etc. Paper items may have rough edges and/or staple holes on one margin from being bound in a book or magazine. Depending on the item and the size of the margin. The holes and/or raw edge has been left as is or trimmed. Excellent: In unusually good condition. With minimal signs of handling. No tears or creases. Colors still vivid. Paper may be yellowed from age, but it is even and natural in appearance. Very Good: In above average condition. With only minor edge wear(bent corners, small creases in margin areas) Flaws are in margin areas and would be covered by a frame or mat. Any dirt is only visible upon close examination(this mostly pertains to front or back covers) Good: Flaws are more apparent than with items in Very Good condition. But item is still suitable for framing or casual display. May also have more obvious wrinkles, creases or moisture or other staining along the edges or in margin areas which would be covered by a frame. May be writing that has been erased an

Proposed new Civil War Boundaries Virginia Maryland Delaware 1861 antique map
TThe Ericsson Steel Clad Battery. Now Building at Green Point, Long Island Map Showing the New Boundaries of Virginia. Maryland, and Delaware as Proposed by Secretary Cameron Issued 1861. Harper's Weekly Fine original antique wood engraved map. Printed in the 19th century. On quality paper which retains its inherent structural flexibility and soundness. In Good+ to near VG or better condition. Overall very clean, paper is lightly uniformly age toned as typical with some faint scattered age spotting or small minor soiling, but the image remains entirely presentable and attractive[note: we grade very conservatively and always seek to disclose any noteworthy flaws] Text on verso as issued. The printed area remains visually pleasing. A nice impression of an interesting theoretical map. Any minor defects along the sheet edges and in the margins ... moremay be seen in the photo. Harpers Weekly was one of the most popular news periodicals of its day and was profusely illustrated with charming and well executed wood engraved images created exclusively for it. These images now appear quaint and delightfully dated to our eye. With a somewhat folk art appeal to them. Harpers employed many talented artists and many of their images are worthy of framing for display. Sheet measures c. 15 3/4" H x 10 5/8" W. Vintage Map of Virginia by John Smith 1612 Reproduction Antique Print - Last One
Last One! Vintage Map of Virginia by John Smith 1612 Reproduction Antique Print Although the name of Captain John Smith has been known to every student of American history for many generations. It has usually been so as a result of his association with the Indian maiden Pocohontas, or his success in keeping the Jamestown colony alive by obtaining food from the Indians. His achievements as a surveyor and map maker have not been so widely recognized. Yet his map of Virginia was the best available for more than half a century. The small black crosses indicate the limits of Smith's explorations up the river emptying into Chesapeake Bay. Color Print Great item for collectors! Would look Great as Framed Art! Approx. Maryland and the Carolinas by Johann Baptist Homann ca. 1730. The east coast is seen up to southern Connecticut and south to the Carolinas. The outer banks and the Chesapeake bay are fairly accurate. But do show a few mistakes. The cartouche shows a great amount of detail as does the map. A great look into colonial life. The condition is very good as you can see in the photos there are two small spots or stains. The top margin has a small piece missing. ... moreAnd the bottom right hand corner is a bit worn. All in all I think the map is in very good condition. The paper is still supple not brittle. I am not sure about the coloring, if it was added later or it's original. I like the cartouche as it is without any coloring it really pops off the paper in its vivid black state. The map measures approx. 23-5/8" x 20-1/8" If you have any questions please ask.
