FOR AUCTION IS AN ANTIQUE MAP OF UTAH. COLORADO AND THE INDIAN TERRITORIES OF THE LATE 1800'S. THIS MAP OUTLINES RAILROAD LINES THROUGH THESE TWO WESTERN TERRITORIES. FOR IT'S AGE, IT IS IN REMARKABLY GOOD CONDITION. THERE ARE A FEW SEAM SPLITS(SEE PHOTO) AND SOME YELLOWING WITH A FEW SPOTS. BELOW IS THE HISTORY OF THE RAILROAD. THANK YOU FOR LOOKING AT MY LISTING- The Denver and Rio Grande Railway(D&RG) was incorporated on October 27. 1870 by General and a board of four directors. It was originally announced that the new 3 ft( 914 mm) gauge railroad would proceed south from and travel an estimated 875 miles(1.408 km) south to El Paso via Pueblo, westward along the Arkansas River, and continue southward through the of Colorado toward the. 1] Closely assisted by his friend and new business partner. It is thus interesting to collect them all to show the progression of geographic knowledge and changing of political divide of the region. When one melts silver one can lose as much as 5% of the weight in the smelting process and I can not be held responsible for weight lost after melting. I do not generally melt anything that is well made as it makes little sense to me. So any potential loss should be considered before purchasing my items. So this is a Very Rare Season Pass to the Utah Horse Races at the State Fair in Salt Lake City Utah on October 1– 8, 1927. This is not just for a normal pass either; this is for a Horse Trainer. Its number 2773 and it has the Utah seal seen coming through the paper. As seen in the photos. This is a Very Rare part of Early Utah History, and the only time Utah allowed Gambling. I n 1925 a bill sponsored by Rep. Charles Redd was passed by the state legislature. On July 2. 1925, an estimated crowd of 10,000 attended the return of pari-mutuel racing at the Utah State Fairgrounds. Among those present were Gov. George Dern and LDS Church president Heber J. Grant. Two years later, however, pari-mutuel wagering was banned again after allegations of corruption within the state racing commission eroded support in the legislature, within the LDS Church and among prominent businessmen. In 1927- the same year a young jockey named Johnny Longden won the first race of his Hall of Fame career aboard a horse named Hugo K. Asher at the fairgrounds- pari-mutuel wagering was banned again. The building was finished and formally opened to the public October 9, 1916. From its commanding location, a wonderul view of the whole of Salt Lake Valley may be had. Telephone Headset This old beauty is in good condition for it's age. Other than being a bit dirty- there is just some fraying of the cord ends where they plug in. Please see last photo. It looks like the wires inside are not affected. Both of the earpieces read"Nathaniel Baldwin Salt Lake City. Utah PAT May 10. 1910 Sept. 14, 1915 TYPE C" There are two heavy cloth coated wire bands on the adjustable headset and they operate smoothly.
