I believe this sheet was published in the 1813 edition of Le Sage’s excellent Historical. Genealogical, Chronological and Geographical Atlas. The sheet measures approx 72cm x 50cm with a vertical centrefold as issued. It shows an attractive hand coloured map of Asia. Colour coded into the‘Five Great Physical Regions; a lot of printed annotation. The text covers the geography and history of Asia; there are detailed descriptions of the five Great Regions. Condition is very good. Delightful hand-made wove paper. Some very faint spotting but no significant foxing or browning. Some soft vertical creasing. Edges untrimmed as issued. One small worm track in bottom margin. Verso blank. A lovely example. The map will be rolled and posted in a tube. Up for auction is a rare map of North Dakota that scrolls out of a metal case. It was made by Pathfinder Auto Company in Minneapolis. Minnesota. It is in really nice condition for it's apparent age(unknown as it has no date) The case is 13" long and the map measures 17" wide when it is pulled out. As I understand it, it was attached to the window of the car and pulled down to look at it. I have never seen one of these and I bet it would be a great find for any antique collector! This finely engraved original antique map a battle plan of the Siege of Douay(Douai) in Northern France- during the 1704-13 Spanish War of Succession- was published in 1745 by Nicholas Tindal in"T indal's Continuation of Mr. Rapin's History of England" A large and very fine battle plan showing both siege and works against this fortified city ... moreof Douai and the detailed dispositions and battle lines of Lord Marlborough's army against the French attempt to lift the siege in June 1710. This siege taking place during the Spanish War of Succession in which Spain lost many possessions both in Europe and the New World. Paul Rapin de Thoiras was a Frenchman responsible for publishing ten elaborate volumes on the History of England Histoire D Angleterre published between 1724-27. In 1745 his work was translated and updated by Nicholas Tindal and called Tindal s Continuation of Mr. Rapin s History of England. Included with the English edition of Rapins work was an atlas containing 45 maps. Battle plans and town plans of the Spanish War of Succession(1701-13) engraved by Richard William Seale and John Basire. I removed them from the atlas myself. Size/ Format In millimetres(and inches) Sheet: 481 x 398(18¾ x 15½) Map: 408 x 337(16 x 13⅛) These maps were all'tipped in' to the atlas. Meaning that they could be removed as a single intact sheet. The maps have a single fold in the center. This is the first Stieler Atlas to have been printed using the lithographic method. The colors are strong and vibrant. These maps are printed on ONE SIDE ONLY. Note: These maps are from a German Atlas. Geographical names and any text are. Naturally, in German. Condition Very Good. Unless otherwise noted in red. There are no significant marks or soiling, ... moreno tears, and no foxing whatsoever. The maps are untrimmed and are suitable for framing. Size/ Format In millimetres(and inches) Sheet: 364 x 262(14¼" X 10 ¼" Margins range from 14mm- 26mm(½" 1" The maps are all printed on one integral sheet with a fold in the center. This fold becomes nearly invisible when the map is laid flat. If the map is framed. The fold becomes completely invisible unless inspected very closely. Condition The maps are in very good condition. The colors are bright and there is almost no age-toning. There is an occasional spot or unobtrusive mark ... morein the margins of a few of the maps. The scanned images are un-edited(except for size) and are of the actual map you will receive. I've noticed that some of the scans look a little blurry or grainy. This is caused by clumsy scanner settings. The maps are very clear with crisp text.
