M1881003314/15) Condition: The map has light discoloration as expected for it's age and light soiling noted outside the margins. The map may appear slightly curled in the photo. This is an amazing detailed map and with some care it can be mounted and framed to enjoy a piece of history. This is the actual original item and not a copy. As it was always in a book the colors have been wonderfully preserved. These will look wonderful framed and hung on your wall and will be sure to give you pleasure for years to come. They are very attractive. Detailed and colorful maps that give us a glance into the past, and have been lots of fun pouring over them for hours by myself, and with friends, looking at the huge differences that have occurred in the last four to five generations. The occasional edge damage such as a tear. Foxing and even the rare stain or crease does appear on a few of these maps that I have for sale, however, any damage that affects the map itself( as opposed to the edge) will be listed above. This is an auction for an antique jigsaw puzzle: McLOUGHLIN BROS. New York 1887 Dissected Map of the United States I'm guessing there should be 40 pieces.and 3 are missing(see photos) The box is incomplete.with only the center image of the cover present(no sides) It was attached to a vintage stationary box somewhere along the way with those sort of press/bend pins(can't remember what those are called) The re-purposed box itself is in poor condition. But has kept the remaining pieces of the puzzle together, so that's a positive at least. The gilt-decorated cover is a sweet image of a mother and daughter doing some sort of craftwork. The puzzle has toned with age to a nice patina. Some of the pieces have edgewear/peeling to the paper. Though not bad for a 126-year-old toy. The rare book is filled with 25 maps featuring mostly the United States and they are all hand colored or accented. The United States looks a lot different at this point in history with Upper California and Oregon taking up most of the West Coast. It shows the Indian Territory and is very detailed and well done. Heavy paper, vertical centrefold as issued. Condition is very good. The printed area is bright. Clean and very fresh; the odd faint mark and speck but very minor. In the margins some browning, a few light marks and a tiny tear on the bottom edge. Verso is blank except for the title; remnants of binding along the centrefold.
