1705 Genuine Antique OLD map of eastern United States. by N. DeFer
Genuine antique map"Le Canada. Ou Nouvelle France la Florida, la Virginie, Pensilvanie, Caroline, Nouvelle Angleterre et Nouvelle Yorck. by Nicolas De Fer, published in Paris. Date 1705 is printed on the map. This is an excellent example of a very early map of the eastern half of the United States. The"Misisipi" River is boldly drawn with the mouth emptying well to the west at"B.St. Louis" on the gulf. Explorations of 1683 are noted. Tributaries including the"Ohio" and"Oubache" rivers, and several early forts, including Fort Miamis and Fort Savage are named. French bias is evident from the constricted boundaries of the English colonies and expansion of French claims. Fictional features remain in the interior, but this is still perhaps the best map of the time for this region. This is Mathias Seutter's decorative and beautifully engraved version of Delisle's important map of 1703( Carte du Mexique et de la Floride) It provides a view of North America from the Great Lakes through the West Indies. The British colonies are confined east of the Appalachian Mountains. France controls the Mississippi valley and Florida, and Spain possesses Mexico; political divisions as dictated by the Treaty of Utrecht in 1713. New Mexico is finely described with many native tribes and pueblos noted, including Acoma, Santa Clara, Isleta and more. While geographically nearly identical to Delisle's chart, this map is very ornate with the lower left corner filled with a huge sea battle and the Atlantic filled with four inset plans of Panama, Havana, Cartagena and Vera Cruz. 1903 Scroll map of United States and Territories! Beautiful Antique! Rare Item!
This map was printed in 1903 and issued by the government. It outlines canals. Waterways, indian reservations, conservation areas, government regulated sections of land, the states and territories. It also includes a lot of information pertaining to those regions of land, such as; for the states, when they were bought or acquired into the union etc. This is a great historical piece! The dimensions are 6 ft wide and 7 ft tall when opened. It is printed on what feels like canvass/cloth so it is extremely durable. It is rolled onto a thick wooden dowel with a design on either end.
