A FINE. ORIGINAL ANTIQUE MAP OF OKLAHOMA. TEXAS(NORTH) Provenance The Victoria Regina Atlas Published Edinburgh& London: W. A.K. Johnston. Ltd. 1906. These are original maps that I removed from the atlas myself. They are all guaranteed to be 102 years old. Cartographer A.K. Johnston Size/ Format Map: 26 cm x 19.5 cm(10.25" x 7.75" Page: 30 c. X 25 cm(12" X 9.75" Condition Very good. The maps are bright and crisp. There is only very slight age-toning to the extreme margins. The maps are clean and free of foxing. Tears, or other compromises. Remarks This 1906 atlas. Finally published a few years after her death, was dedicated to Queen Victoria. Most of the maps had been previously published by W. A.K. It is in exceptional condition. And the embossing is very crisp and bold. It reads: H.V. Rare Antique Texas Suttles Pot - Crock
Offered here is a rare early signed Texas crock by Isaac Suttles. There is a fair amount of history about Mr. Suttles and his brother George available on line but briefly. Isaac served in the Civil War and, following the war, moved to Texas and worked alongside several of the early Texas potters in central Texas.This crock is an early salt glaze piece that was probably in the late 1860s to 1870s as Mr.Suttles was found dead in 1881 with a bullet hole to the head. Isaac's pieces are rare and highly prized, especially his signed pieces but the reserve is nowhere near what we have been told this should bring so have fun. There are sections on the tubes that are nickle or chrome plated. Behind the bell it is stamped R Medalist. This stamping of this name is inside a stamped rolled banner design. On one side of the middle valve it is stamped with the number 243335 and F. A. REYNOLDS ABILENE. TEXAS USA. The valves all work on the trumpet and it plays. There are 2 spring loaded spittle release levers which also work. The trumpet is in fairly good condition cosmetically with no dents. However, there are quite a few areas that have age spotting. With the mouthpiece in place it measures 21 ¼” long. Rare Texas antique americana sign
Offered here is an early. Near new condition old stock sign from Fredericksburg, Texas. This and a few other signs were found years ago in the back of the original building that used to house this store in the late 18 to early 1900's. Many years ago one of these signs sold at the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame sale for over 150 but we have listed this with no reserve so have fun. The sign is about 19 and 3/4's in length and about 6 and 5/8th's in height. It is made of a cardboard material and has a couple of hairline cracks that we have tried to picture for you.

Bricks and the Decline of Thurber. Texas William Knox Gordan. Seeing potential in the shale mud found in Thurber, persuaded company president R.D. Hunter to build a brick plant in 1897. The bricks became popular all over the state, and the orders kept the plant running day and night to produce millions of bricks for many Texas buildings and highways, including Old Bankhead Highway(US 80) Austin's Congress Avenue, Fort Worth's Camp Bowie Boulevard, and the Galveston Seawall. The plant closed in 1931. By 1936, the town had been abandoned, and many of the buildings were dismantled. It had quickly become a ghost town. Today. Meaning that they could be removed as a single intact sheet. The maps have a single fold in the center. The maps are high quality lithographs with tasteful and appealing colors. The maps are printed on one side only. Condition These maps are very good condition. The maps themselves are clean and bright. There are a few marks in the margins of a few of the maps. This will be evident in the scanned images, which are high quality and unedited. The maps are untrimmed and are suitable for framing. Remarks The quality of these maps surpasses that of most, if not all, its American-produced contemporaries. These maps are much nicer than any of the Rand McNally or Cram's ... moreAtlas editions I've seen. For the 55 maps covering U.S. states, I haven't seen better maps anywhere. Condition: The binding is strong and holding firmly with repairs to spine ends. Boards are damp-stained, calf rubbed and scuffed, corners bumped. Contents are holding firmly though damp-stained throughout toward upper edges, most severe to the first twenty-five maps plus prelims, the second half(which includes Greece, World, Middle East/India, and the Americas) less severely affected, most maps are stained on mostly outer edge of map. The map paper is not brittle and there are no tears, cuts, chipping or markings on maps other than stains. Some general light dust-soiling and finger-marking. This is a really cool vintage trunk made by Texas Trunks out of San Antonio Texas. There is a sticker on the back that seems to put it on united van lines in 1925! To be honest this thing is in very nice shape for something around 90 years old. All straps and buckles are intact and in great shape. The key is missing. There are some scuffs and rubs from the one or two times it looks like it was used for legitimate travel. and on the back panel the laminate is kinda separated from the plywood. You can not see this in the photo.you can only feel it when you run your hand across the back.VERY MINOR.
