In Fair to Good or better condition. Light minor age wear, small soiling or staining and uniform toning but overall very presentable and attractive[note: we grade very conservatively and always seek to disclose any noteworthy flaws] The printed area remains visually pleasing. A nice impression of an interesting antique map which will look nice when displayed. Sheet measures c. 8 5/8" H x 11 1/4" W. Printed area measures c. 7 7/8" H x 10 1/2" W. 34966] Any defects along the sheet edges and in the margins may be seen in the photos. note: All old sheets of printed paper possibly have short edge splits. Each sheet has existed for a very long time and has probably been handled repeatedly in the course of it's existence. It has a history unique to it as an object. Most of the time any edge splits are short. Minor, insignificant and have been closed- either long ago or more recently with small pieces of archival tape. Most often these splits are trivial and easy to overlook visually. Basically, they would not significantly affect the piece adversely. The item is offered as seen. Please look carefully and make your decision knowing this antique image is nice. But it is not in perfect"like new" condition. However, with whatever flaws it possesses, it remains entirely worthy of ownership and inclusion in any related collection. We feel it will prove very pleasing to its new owner. Bought these at an estate sale. All spoons could use a polishing. They all measure approx. 4 1/4" long. 7 of the spoons have the same design on the handle and different designs in the bowl. The other spoon has a picture of and has his name ADMIRAL DEWEY on the handle with the US Crusier Olympia in the bowl and the plating is good showing one spot in the bowl. Plating on the Brooklyn. Maine and Boston are very nice. Plating in the bowl on the Philadelphia is mainly down to brass on the front and back. Plating on the Texas, Oregon and Minneapolis shows some signs of brass coming through but most of the plating is still there. Email me with any questions. This is a really cool vintage trunk made by Texas Trunks out of San Antonio Texas. There is a sticker on the back that seems to put it on united van lines in 1925! To be honest this thing is in very nice shape for something around 90 years old. All straps and buckles are intact and in great shape. The key is missing. There are some scuffs and rubs from the one or two times it looks like it was used for legitimate travel. and on the back panel the laminate is kinda separated from the plywood. You can not see this in the photo.you can only feel it when you run your hand across the back.VERY MINOR. RARE Antique Black Mulberry Creamer Pitcher T Walker Tavoy Vincennes Texas 1850
Just removed from the family estate of south Texas Pioneers Sidbury Family. There is some information on the estate at the end of the listing. A very nice 5.875 inch tall to top of handle by 3.75 inches across base antique creamer from the 1850s. Pattern is the Flow balck Mulberry so prevelant in that era. Several makers had designs that were almost alike. This is very similiar to the John Alcock"Vincennes" pattern but is different. I would say this is more in the line of T. Walker"Tavoy" As stated the condition in very good. There is one small nick on the edge as shown in the last picture. Has a couple of factory errors glazed over(large pin hole. Pimples, area on handle top that did not get the transferware and looks like a large white pimple, and some age discoloring) NO damage to spout or to handle. Being sold with ... moreNO RESERVE. Sidbury(1830-1904) The builder of this house, was born in north Carolina and came with her parents to Sterling Robertson's colony before the Texas Revolution(1836) She married John Wesley Scott in 1848; they moved to Nueces county, where he died in 1867. In 1875, she was married again to builder Edward D. Sidbury. A civic leader and bank Director, Mrs. Sidbury became manager of her husband's lumber company after his death in 1881. This structure was part of the expansion resulting from the ropes boom of the early 1890's. Colonel E. H. Ropes of New Jersey planned to make Corpus Christi a deep water port. He began dredging a channel across Mustang Island but ran out of money and abandoned the project. One of two rent houses originally constructed by Mrs. Sidbury about 1893 in the bluff addition on upper north Broadway. Meeting at the home of Jenny Scheuber to form the Fort Worth Public Library Association. Within one month, this association had received its state charter, but it took the association’s contacting wealthy philanthropist Andrew Carnegie for it to bring the Fort Worth Public Library and Art Museum into existence. Who was donating building funds for libraries throughout the English-speaking world, suggested the women ask the local gentlemen for"the price of a good cigar" to help raise the necessary local supporting funds. The front of the glass bears a painted image of the Carnegie Public Library in Fort Worth. Texas. A banner painted below reads, Carnegie Library, Fort Worth, Texas. The building pictured on the glass was built in 1901 and in 1939 it was demolished and replaced by a new library building. The glass stands 3 1/2" tall and is 2 1/2" across the mouth. It looks like the image was transferred onto the glass and then handpainted. The glass looks as if it originally had gilt around the rim. But it has since mostly worn away. The glass has some"waviness" and a few tiny straws and bubbles. There is also a small scratch on the side of the glass. You can see it in the last photo. I couldn't get it to show up in the photos very, so I put a piece of black paper inside the glass to make it visible. The bottom of the glass has a small drop of something on it that looks like it might be a tiny bit of paint.possibly when the glass was painted. old original Texas Tanning antique saddle pre Textan - Hereford nice
Beautiful old Hand carved Texas Tanning saddle. Soft leather, striking in appearance, very hard to find, still has the original metal plate on the cantle. Texas Tanning was in business from 1919 to 1940, after which the name was shortened to Textan. So, we are looking at a saddle that is at least 73 years old. A real part of Old West History, and so very attractive! The saddle has a wide gullet for its years. Measuring midway between full and semi bars. The seat is beautifully tooled, and the fenders, although showing wear, show quality craftsmanship and design. The seat measures 15 inches, if you measure from the base of the horn to the point at which the leather from the seat meets the leather of the cantle. If you would like it measured from another point, please do not hesitate to ask. The leather is very soft and pliable. I have not ... moreconditioned it yet, and it would really shine with that done. There is a lot of wear on the saddle.the early ranchers who bought these saddles, bought them to use long and hard. They saw long hard miles across rough country, and lots of cattle. They were generally not the Sunday afternoon trail rider. There are some dings on the cantle and the pomel. And little scrapes in a varity of locations. The near fender shows a lot of wear, some small irregularity to the upper outside edge, and a solid repair to the bottom of the fender where it bends around the stirrup. This repair is basically hidden when the rider is in the saddle. Importantly, it saved the beautiful hand tooling on the fender, and made the saddle useful again. There is a lot of cracking to the backs of the stirrup leather on the far side. And this will probably warrant repair sometime in the future.there is surface cracking seen a number of places, especially on the lower skirts and upper fenders. The fleece has been replaced with some other material.not so much fleece looking, more ruggish looking, but it is solid and useful. There are a couple of missing conchos and some broken latigos. Detailed and important early 19th century folio engraved map based on the cartographic depictions of Humboldt& Pike. With pleasing original full hand color heightened in outline. An important and fine map of Western American interest. Includes the large region of the southern U.S. Much of which is labelled" Louisiana" and which would soon become the Republic of Texas. Covers from New Orleans across to modern day California, northward to Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Nevada, Oklahoma& Colorado. The mountainous regions around New Mexico are taken directly from Alexander Humboldt's important 1811 map" Carte General du Royaume de la Nouvelle Espagne" Which is among the earliest to delineate ... morethe Spanish southwest and Rocky Mountain region with any sense of modern accuracy. Interestingly, this map which is printed just 3 years later adds and amends many topographical details of Humboldts map east of the Rockies, including new mountainous elevations and rivers while also adding new tributaries to the Colorado river, etc. Evidence of Pikes important 1806-07 explorations in what is today Colorado is seen for instance in the unnamed mountain(Pikes Peak in Colorado) Which is here simply labelled"Highest Peak" The Great Salt Lake and the close-by Utah Lake are both mapped with incomplete borders and a fictitious river between them. Large area below these lakes"Unknown Parts" As the area depicted extends east much farther than Humboldts. It includes a large portion of Louisiana Territory, and also includes a relatively accurate mapping of the course of the Arkansas river, as well as many Indian tribes and their villages. Some of these Indian villages even give the number of inhabitants. Much else of interest. This hand colored copperplate map shows Mexico when it included most of Texas and the southwestern states. The mythical city of Quivira is shown in the area of present-day Nevada. Mountain ranges and waterways are imaginatively illustrated. Many Indian areas are named. This interesting map is in very good condition with wide margins. Take a good look! This is really a neat looking old pennant. It is an AMARILLO TEXAS PENNANT F eatu ring artwork of the CLASSIC INDIAN CHIEF IN FULL HEADDRESS. It is in overall good condition. There is a speck of white paint near the T and there is some brown staining on it. But it is not bad at all. You can see it best on the close up of the tip. But I honestly think that the c lose up looks worse than the real thing. You don't really notice the bro wn without looking for it. This is a nice pennant made by a quality pennant mfr. Th eir tag is still attached- MFR. 1912" Made of 30% Wool. 24% Rayon, 46% Cotton. I am still learning about this Mf r. But they are very similar to the NYPCo in size. Fe el. And sty le of pennant. I am not sure why the words say Pyrene Manufacturing is from Newark. NJ, Atlanta, San Francisco, Kansas City and Chicago on the brass plate but the top of the extinguisher says"The Texas Company. The Brass plate says 1 and 1/2 Quarts and Anti-Freeze. Spray at the base of the fire. The mount is for mounting on a motorized vehicle such as a large car or truck. This is a really nice piece.
