RARE CARVED WOODEN TRAY WESTERN/ TEXAS CONESTOGA WAGON– PRAIRIE SCEAN Circa 1800’s This tray is a very unique bit of Americana. Nice. Clean and in all original condition, unrestored or polished. This tray is in“as found” condition fresh from a farm estate located here in New England. The carving on the surface of the tray depicts a prairie/ overland scene with a team of horses. A man and a dog that is following the Conestoga wagon. CONESTOGA WAGON: A large. Heavy, broad-wheeled covered wagon. Used especially for transporting pioneers and freight across North America during the early westward migration) Approx. measurements: 21" at the widest. Handle to handle 16-1/4 in height The handles are solid brass(unpolished) with a very ornate style and form; they measure approx. 2" Wide(Note: there is one screw missing from one of the handles ... morebut it still is securely attached with the remaining one that is still in place) The tray is made from an approx. 1-1/4” thick piece of oak wood which still has its original dark Jacobean finish Approx. weight: 6.2 Lbs. NOTE: The back side of the tray has an old wire attached to two old screws that allows this tray to be hung on a wall for display. My parents bought a variety of Starr X stationary wall mount bottle openers in 1979 from an antique dealer in Decatur. Georgia. At that time, they were told by the dealer that they were made circa 1920. Some history about Grand Prize Lager beer can be found at Houston's historic Magnolia Brewery site written below. Antique Weathervane Rooster 1940's Texas Cast Metal Art Country House or Barn Search I have an authentic metal rooster weathervane for sell. It is complete and it is ready for mounting. The weathervane was mounted on the roof of a neighbor's house in the early 1940's. I suspect it is much older than this. But I can only declare for certain that it is this old, because I remember it as a child. My parent's purchased the house at a later time and when they passed away the weathervane came into my possession. It measures approx. 35 1/2" tall and it is 27" wide measuring across the arrow. There is a round piece of metal beneath this. That they must have inserted into a small hole and then the weathervane had screws, that fastened the weathervane to the roof of the house. There is paint wear from being outside so many ... moreyears. There is some rust on the bottom round disk. But it has not harmed the metal and the wethervane just needs to be cleaned and painted or you can enjoy displaying it in his natural, weathered state. I have kept it inside my home for at least fifteen years as a display piece. The antique globe in the first phoograph is not part of this auction. It is time to let someone else enjoy this wonderful. This is the biggest ledger you will ever see! This antique gem was uncovered at a recent Texas hill country antique fair. It is a pharmacists prescription ledger from Schulenburg. Texas from 1911. Absolutely FULL of cool old prescriptions and instructions. Most are for people, but there are occasionally veterinary prescriptions too. I was hoping to find some cool old prescriptions for cocaine or heroin or something similarly illicit.but I have a hard time reading the doctor's handwriting! Go figure. Quite a fascinating look at medicine and pharmacological history! This GIGANTIC book weighs over 20lbs and measures nearly 5" thick! Every page is covered front and back with consecutively numbered prescriptions. Apparently they were sticklers for record keeping even in 1911! As you can see from the photos. There is some age related wear-especially ... moreon the front and back covers. There is a small white sticker on the front cover that says"1911-12" Inside pages show some occasional discoloration, a few dog ears, etc. Overall this piece wears its age beautifully! Elissa was built in Scotland in a time when steamships were overtaking sailing ships. She was originally launched on October 27. 1877. Elissa also sailed under Norwegian and Swedish flags. In 1918. She was converted into a two-masted brigantine and an engine was installed. She was sold to Finland in 1930 and reconverted into a schooner. In 1959, she was sold ... moreto Greece, and successively sailed under the names Christophoros. In 1967 as Achaeos. And in 1969 as Pioneer. In 1970. She was rescued from destruction in Piraeus after being purchased for the San Francisco Maritime Museum. However. She languished in a salvage yard in Piraeus until she was purchased for $40,000, in 1975, by the Galveston Historical Foundation, her current owners. In 1979. After a year in Greece having repairs, Elissa was first towed to Gibraltar. There the restoration process continued until she was ready for a final tow on June 7. 1979 Elissa made her first voyage as a restored sailing ship in 1985. Traveling to Corpus Christi. Texas. A year later. She sailed to New York City to take part in the Statue of Liberty's centennial celebrations. When she's not sailing. In the late 1980's, after I had been setting up at Antique Shows for a few years, a customer approached me asking if I was interested in Old Store Stock(Dead Stock) and Display Equipment. You can fill in the rest! The old Mercantile opened in the 1880's, closed in the 1920's with the contents intact. These little untapped gold mines are unbelievably exciting due to their rarity. This rack is copper and brass with a weighted base. I'm stating the material just from general knowledge so please correct me! Don't ambush me after buying, please. I believe copper to be malleable, useful for creating the surface of the base and for constructing the hollow tubing for the"female" post. 2 Antique Coin Silver Teaspoons Samuel Bell Tennessee & Texas
This is an interesting pair of coin silver teaspoons by Samuel Bell. Who worked in Tennessee and Texas, and lived 1819-1881. This mark was used while Bell was in Knoxville TN. They are 5 1/8” long and weigh in total 0.6 troy ounces. The bowls have quite a few dings or teething marks, see the photos. Bell was quite a character. There is a great section about him in“Tennessee Silversmiths” by Benjamin Hubbard Caldwell Jr, pg 32-35, which I’m summarizing here. He was considered the best silversmith in Knoxville, and in addition to silver his shop offered groceries, stoneware, candy, and window glass. He was particularly vexed by those who did not pay their bills to him, and threatened to advertise all persons with debts incurred in the paper. He served two terms as Knoxville’s mayor. This one is pieced by hand in small, even& neat stitches and is an usual size, 62" x 38" and perhaps the maker had in mind a throw, or for a child's bed, or for hanging or other decorative ideas. Border is in points and some of them need a little shaping up; top right of the quilt appears unfinished, and could use 2 more pieces added; there is also one fabric, in solid red, that hasn't held up well and you might or might not want to replace the 2 affected small pieces. For sale is a old Calumet kid calculator. Original made in the late 1920s. Says it's was used in East Bernard Texas. Measure about 9.5" tall. Its in good shape for its age its colors are all there. Up for auction is a Fantastic Vintage ELEVATOR Unit that was salvaged from a TEXAS Hotel that was Demolished in the early 1980s. Very heavy. We believe it to be Bronze but we can not say with certainty that it is not Brass with Colored Jewel Lights on the Plate. It measures approx. 20 3/4" x 5 1/2" x 2 3/4" deep(not including jewels) and would stand out(if mounted) approx. 2" from wall(not including jewels) Overall good condition with expected wear.some loose pieces inside. Wild Cow Tales. tells of the days when he made a specialty of catching wild cows. Ben K.
