The frame with glass covering measures 33 inches(83.8 cm) by 26 inches(66 cm) and the matted cutout for the map measures 24 inches(61 cm) by 18 inches(45.72 cm) Here's what I stated about its condition: Slight yellowing on map due to great age but in very good condition under glass with no rips or tears or folds. Glass has no breaks. Chips, or cracks, and wood frame has nice finish with no breaks or chips, but has some scratches and scuffs. Up for your consideration is this very rare find! This is an original map by Pierre Francois Tardieau(1757- 1822) from approximately 1805-1807. It shows Florida. Georgia, Louisiana, South Carolina, Indian Territories, and the Bahamas. It shows relief pictorially of the Mountains, rivers and lakes. Doing some research on the internet I found a copy at the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library at the University of Georgia Library in Athens, Georgia. This is your opportunity to own an original! The title of this map is Carte de la Floride et de la Georgie. If you copy and paste the title to your search engine, much information comes up. The Rag paper itself measures approximately 23 1/2" by 16 3/4" on one end and 15 3/4" on the other. The etching plate measures 13 1/8" by 17 3/8" and the borders of the map are 12 ... more5/8" by 16 3/4" approximately! There is some hand coloring. A little green in the New Orleans area, and a little red in the Savannah area. The rag paper is in very good condition. Very sturdy as Antique Rag paper should be. In the center below the word Longitude there is a small hole that looks as if it was created when the paper was made. I have a good close up of this area. This auction is for an 1874 map done by Asher& Adams. It is a map of Florida. The map is hand colored. It is a double page. Measuring 24 3/4" x 17 3/4" The map is in good condition. It has yellowed a bit due to age. There is some foxing on the borders and some small light spots on the border. There are some small spots on the map as well. Original antique Map of the Peninsula of Florida and Adjacent Islands. Published by the Land Department of Florida East Coast Railway. It was printed by the Matthews- Northrup Co. Buffalo, New York. There is no printed date. It's printed on a thin(vellum type) paper. It's in fair condition- it has two 9" strips of kraft tape attached along the bottom left edge(front to back. It is titled at the top” Map of the Peninsula of Florida and adjacent islands” The map Shows signs of wear with crease and fold marks though out. As well as some discoloration, stains and small holes. Paper feels in good integral condition. Map opens and closes easily and does not feel brittle at all. I have taken many high resolution photos.
