This particular book is a very fine and very rare Colton’s Atlas of America and it was printed back in 1857 and printed by J. H. Colton& Company in New York. The book is really amazing and has tons of great color maps along with close up city maps of all the big cities at the time– Boston. Manhattan, Chicago and more. It covers mostly the United States, but there are also maps of Canada and South America. No maps appear to be missing and the book is in really nice condition with some normal wear and discoloration here and there. The city map of Washington DC has some pencil writing and there is some very minor water staining at the extreme upper right corner– doesn’t effect any of the map images. Guaranteed ... moreold! This is a lovely colour map of Boston. Lincolnshire which was taken from the book"The County Maps of Old England" by Thomas MOULE which was published in 1990. The page measures approximately 9.5" x 12" check the photos) and the map has been printed onto good thick quality paper. It would look lovely framed! Thomas MOULE was one of the most distinctive and best-loved of early Victorian mapmakers and he first published his maps in 1830. His work is often compared to his 17th century predecessor John Speed who published similar maps in the 1630's(many of which I have also got listed on ebay) Because it has been taken from a book there is the description of the next map in the book on the back of this map. The map measures 39" wide(43" including the top wooden pole) by 28" tall It shows in amazing detail the roads, residences, names of owners, railroads, public buildings, churches, schools, businesses, cemeteries, etc. that existed in 1853. Condition: These maps are almost always in poor condition. But this one is pretty good. It appears to be completely original-including the wooden poles at the top and bottom. The linen backing is missing. And laminate covering the paper is good. Also, no significant portions of the map have flaked off. Rare Norfolk County. Massachusetts wall map by Henry F. Walling, superintendent of the state map, Boston. Published by H.A. Haley, 81 Washington St. Boston. The map measures 39" wide(43" including the top wooden pole) by 28" tall It shows in amazing detail the roads, residences, names of owners, railroads, public buildings, churches, schools, businesses, cemeteries, etc. that existed in 1853. Condition: These maps are almost always in poor condition. But this one is pretty good. It appears to be completely original-including the wooden poles at the top and bottom. The linen backing is missing. And laminate covering the paper is good. Also, no significant portions of the map have flaked off. It does have some tears, discoloration, staining and has been taped on the back here and there where there are tears. Please see pictures ... morefor details.

State of Massachusetts Department of Public Works. William F. Callahan, Commissioner. 1950 Reprint with corrections from the Edition of 1946. This map measures approximately 21 x 17 inches. Including the border area. On the reverse side, is an article on"The Topographic Maps of The United States" including a Standard Symbols Legend. The map has specific details to it and shows various attributes- different road surfaces. Buildings, barnes, greenhouses, railroads, national boundaries, State boundaries, towns, woods, vineyards, marshes, mine tunnels, steep slopes, tunnels, bridges, etc. Map is generally in Good condition. It has been stored in a roll for many ... moreyears. So it naturally rolls up now. The map has some wear and browning. There are some small creases and tears around the edges of the paper and other stains along the edges. There are other creases and dings here and there. As well. This map is a great piece of history!
