Several large before& after restoration pictures below! Beautifully restored vintage. Circa 1950 ALPINE brand skis. Be assured that they look as good or better than the after pics below! Be sure to scroll down the whole way to see the restored"AFTER" pics! The pics really don't do them justice! These skis would look great above the fireplace mantle or on the wall in your mountain cabin. Ski house or lodge. I found these at an estate sale in an old barn along with another pair I restored that I have listed right now. Rich, warm, wood tones would go very well with most decor. They are circa 1950 skis, serial number 823 and the length is 6' 11" The brand name is ALPINE with Dovre-Kabel bindings. They were covered in dirt and dust and the hardware was tarnished and had started to rust in many places. I really liked that a good bit of the original paint remained and that the owner had painted his initials on the tails of the skis so. I decided to restore these and keep them as original as possible but make them look really sharp. I removed all the hardware and sanded the wood with fine grit paper. Removing some of the finish and grime but, being careful to retain what was left of the original paint scheme. Someone years ago had recoated them with varnish and I removed most all of that. I then sprayed them with several coats of hi-gloss lacquer which I hand-rubbed between coats. This brought them back to life, yet retained their vintage paint scheme, look and the majority of the original finish and paint. All the metal hardware. Original screws included, was then sanded, steel wooled and polished, which took several hours. The bottoms of the skis were sanded and sealed with three sealer coats, keeping the original paint on the bottoms. In all, I spent about 8 or 9 hours plus materials restoring them so, most of the pric

They are circa 1950 skis, serial number 823 and the length is 6' 11" ... moreThe brand name is ALPINE with Dovre-Kabel bindings. They were covered in dirt and dust and the hardware was tarnished and had started to rust in many places. I really liked that a good bit of the original paint remained and that the owner had painted his initials on the tails of the skis so. I decided to restore these and keep them as original as possible but make them look really sharp. I removed all the hardware and sanded the wood with fine grit paper. Removing some of the finish and grime but, being careful to retain what was left of the original paint scheme. Someone years ago had recoated them with varnish and I removed most all of that. I then sprayed them with several coats of hi-gloss lacquer which I hand-rubbed between coats. This brought them back to life, yet retained their vintage paint scheme, look and the majority of the original finish and paint. All the metal hardware. Original screws included, was then sanded, steel wooled and polished, which took several hours. The bottoms of the skis were sanded and sealed with three sealer coats, keeping the original paint on the bottoms. In all, I spent about 8 or 9 hours plus materials restoring them so, most of the pric

The mantel has an exquisite Victorian style design. Each leg has a round. Tapered, half-fluted column with round base and ornate capital. Notice the carved acanthus leaves on the capitals, and their reeded sides-what great accents! The body has lovely acanthus and volute motif in the center sitting atop a stepped ledge with dental molding. The crown molding, directly below the shelf also has steps and dental detail. Restoration: At the point of salvage. The mantel was covered under several layers of paint, and a thick layer of stain and varnish. The body is made up of 2 boards, and the 2 boards separated from each other at some point(see photos under"Prior ... moreto restoration" In order to thoroughly remove the paint. It's made of solid, riftsawn oak and is divided into 2 parts: the mantel and the overmantel. The mantel has thick. Bead and reel molding bordering the outer edges of the legs and the opening. There are 2 curved corbels with reed and bulls-eye carvings below the shelf. The overmantel has one. Large opening in the center for a mirror, flanked by 2, smaller beveled glass mirrors. There is a shelf above each mirror opening. Notice the beautifully-turned balusters connecting the shelves-what great accents! The 2 smaller side shelves are quarter of a circle in form and the single, center shelf is rectangular. The center shelf is adorned with a lovely, miniature ... morebalustrade. Directly above the center shelf is a recessed panel with stepped molding. The overmantel is topped with 4, ball finials, each with a lovely, carved, horizontal reed in the center. Stripping: We acquired the mantel as you see in the photos. Someone stripped about 95% of the mantel and 65% of the overmantel. We could finish stripping the mantel-email us for a quote. The pieces of wood on the sides are attached, but not original to the mantle I would say. Possibly cut to fit another fireplace, and stained to match. 56"x81" Antique Restored Carved Victorian Red Oak Wood Fireplace Mantel Mantle
Penn Antique Restoration. 56"x81" Antique Restored Carved Victorian Oak Fireplace Mantel Gorgeous. Antique, fireplace mantel salvaged from an old plantation home in Central Georgia. It is made entirely of red oak(no veneer) and dates back to the 1880's. The lower half has a fairly straightforward design with a few accents including a turned. Tapered column on each leg; a carved starburst motif above each column; and chamfered edges on both sides of each leg. The upper half has 4 shelves(2 long and 2 short) a recessed panel in the center contoured with egg and dart molding and an oval opening for a mirror; 2 turned. Tapered columns with a carved plinth block in the middle; and a lovely crown with curved ends. Glass: The original mirror had very little silvering left. So we didn't include it. The mantel will need a new mirror(flat ... moreor beveled) which we could order and install for you. If you would like a bigger mirror, we could remove the whole panel(the area in between the ornate molding) and install a rectangular mirror. Email and let us know what you would like, and we'll get you a quote. Restoration: At the point of salvage. The mantel was covered under many layers of paint, and some parts were broken or missing(mostly decorative appliqués) We acquired the mantel in pieces. This facilitated the stripping process. But made putting it back together very difficult. We reassembled the mantel using modern glue, nails, and drywall screws. We also added hardwood stiffeners to the back of the mantel. Now, it's stronger and sturdier than ever! Condition: Considering that the mantel is about 130 years old. It's in amazing condition! You will find the typical cosmetic blemishes: nicks, scrapes, scratches, and small nail holes. However, to the antique enthusiast, those are character marks not flaws. There are no structural threats(i.e. breaks, cracks, rotting, etc. Finishing: All this beauty needs now is a nice stain and/or finish. We've finished many mantels before(see last 5 photos)

Beautiful, fireplace mantle, mantel, surround, mahogany, carved wood
You are bidding on a beautiful. Carved wood, fireplace mantle that was custom made for our house. It is in three pieces, so it is easily adjustable to fit your space. The top measures 78 inches wide and 12 inches deep by 12 inches high. The legs measure 35.25 inches high and 9.25 inches wide. The total height of the unit would be 47.25, but you could easily add another piece to the bottom if you need it taller. This was handmade by a local carpenter and I believe it is poplar wood with a mahogany stain. It is in excellent condition. This is local pickup only in Hinsdale, IL 60521. This is a real. Solid beauty! Salvaged after a fire, this is an antique hand hewn rough cut wood fireplace mantle. The"chiseled" out surface gives the piece a three dimension affect. Not sure what type of wood this is- it's heavy though! The wood is worn, the top has some candle wax remains, the bottom has remains of glue-putty and one end has char marks from the fire. Great hunk of wood! There was a piece of trim molding on the front of the piece which was added later on to. This would make a nice free floating shelf also. The piece has 2 metal slots in the back that can be used to hang it. The mantle is 6 feet long. 9" wide and 2 1/2" thick. Structure/Composition: Made of hand carved hardwood with dark brown stain. Unstained side shows little grain ands is light honey colored. So it could be poplar or oak. Wear-and-Tear: In excellent condition; varnish is chipped in places. But no damage to the wood. Edges to the leaves are still crisp and unworn. Removal from wall was done well, no chips missing from the corbels; no pry marks or damage from the removal. The wood backing strip that the corbel is glue to is split, but the corbel itself is not. First of all this is BROKEN. I am not sure if all the parts are there, I rescued from the scrap pile, It has a 1929 mark on the posts, Rusty, I think it iron, The wood holder and the posts with the long sides. Highly detailed wood mantle that appears to be of a mahogany wood. Overall measures 53 3/8" long x 44 3/4" high x 11 1/2" deep from front to back. Some marring to the wood.some scraping to one column on the side and some wear to the mantle but overall very good. I am listing it as local pickup only because I have no idea how to ship something this large. This is a wood and metal freestanding faux fireplace/mantle with metal liner. Manufactured by Wood-Craft Inc. Baltimore MD. Sticker indicates company was founded in 1933. I have no idea how old this unit is. I tried to research the company and/or the unit and can't find information anywhere on ebay or on Google. I would estimate it at over 50 years old based on the fact that there is no plastic anywhere on the unit. I bought it at an antique store to have a place to hang Christmas stockings: I put an little electric fireplace and used it for five years, but the ... morefireplace stopped working so I pitched that, and now I'm moving and hope to have a real fireplace. Measures 52" wide. 44" tall, and only 10" deep. Someone- not me- made small cut outs(pictured) to accommodate up to a six inch molding and allow it to be placed flat against the wall. Very stable, but if you have children or dogs that might bump it I would suggest securing it to the wall. The textured faux brick is made of metal. Not plastic, and the interior metal is certainly not perfect, but could easily be re-painted. The back of the metal has some light surface rusting. There are a few scuff marks here and there, and the solid wood top has some slight hairline cracks. I tried to show all of the imperfections in the pictures. If there's anything else you'd like to see, ask, and I'll take as many close up pictures as you'd like. You will need a pickup truck or a van to transport. It's not particularly heavy but is bulky. Vintage Antique Faux Freestanding Fireplace Mantle White Metal Wood Stage Prop
Price reduced again- need this gone. I know that I am a very new E-bay seller. In order to earn your trust I have attempted to take very good pictures and I will answer any questions about this item that you have. Just ask. I am listing it as local pickup only because I have no idea how to ship something this large. This is a wood and metal freestanding faux fireplace/mantle with metal liner. Manufactured by Wood-Craft Inc. Baltimore MD. Sticker indicates company was founded in 1933. I have no idea how old this unit is. I tried to research the company and/or the unit and can't find information anywhere on ebay or on Google. I would estimate it at over 50 years old based on the fact that there is no plastic anywhere on the unit. I bought it at an antique store to have a place to hang Christmas stockings: I put an little electric fireplace ... moreand used it for five years, but the fireplace stopped working so I pitched that, and now I'm moving and hope to have a real fireplace. Measures 52" wide. 44" tall, and only 10" deep. Someone- not me- made small cut outs(pictured) to accommodate up to a six inch molding and allow it to be placed flat against the wall. Very stable, but if you have children or dogs that might bump it I would suggest securing it to the wall. The textured faux brick is made of metal. Not plastic, and the interior metal is certainly not perfect, but could easily be re-painted. The back of the metal has some light surface rusting. There are a few scuff marks here and there, and the solid wood top has some slight hairline cracks. I tried to show all of the imperfections in the pictures. If there's anything else you'd like to see, ask, and I'll take as many close up pictures as you'd like. You will need a pickup truck or a van to transport. It's not particularly heavy but is bulky. Hello and thank you for stopping by. By popular request. I have added a wooden beam fireplace mantle. We all love those giant barn wood beams and they look great above any fireplace. But some people don't have the means to attach a giant beam, so I created this faux beam to hang over any fireplace or on any wall. It hangs the same way my other mantles do. These look solid and heavy, but they are very light and super easy to hang. I try to use reclaimed wood that has knots and natural cuts, so they may vary slightly, but will have definite character. This one is about 48 inches long by 5 1/2 inches deep and about 5 1/2 inches tall. These are easy to hang using my French cleat hanging system. Easy and sturdy. Please feel free to ask any questions. A beautiful Quartersawn Oak Fireplace Mantel with bevel edged Mirror. Circa 1880. We are pleased to present this fabulous antique Quartersawn Oak Fireplace Mantel for your consideration. In the Arts& Crafts/ Mission style. The Mantel features a large beveled edge mirror above the shelf, along with a variety of decorative touches including attractive striping of the wood grain on the two vertical columns. The Mantel has overall dimensions of 82 inches high. 60-1/2 inches wide, and 14 inches deep. We estimate the weight at 150 pounds- two people can move it with effort, although its large size makes it somewhat torquey to handle. The mirror measures 17-1/2 inches high by 29-3/8 inches wide. The shelf is 44 inches wide and 7-1/2 inches deep. At the front. The opening for the fireplace is 39 inches high by 41-1/2 inches wide. At the back ... moreedge, the opening is 50 inches wide. Picture 5 shows where the"front" and"back" measurements were taken. Measuring from the wall, to the back edge of the"front" point, the depth is 5-1/4 inches. Faults are few and minor with this antique fixture. The silvering on the mirror shows only minor deterioration. With a few tiny black spots, and some larger areas of crazing where it still reflects. There are a few small burn marks(see pictures 3 and 4) but they only affect the surface finish. There is one noticeable bump to the front edge of the shelf(seen in picture 10) but it is not very large. Other than these issues, the Mantel is in fine shape. We rate the overall condition as very good. This is a gorgeous Arts& Crafts/ Mission style Oak Mantel. It would make a wonderful decorative piece for your remodeling project! 6.5 ft Log Fireplace Mantle Persimmon American Ebony Wood Very Rare
Please see all pics. This is an amazing piece of nature. We have never seen another thing like it. First. The tree limbs were cut off at some point and the tree healed and lived which gives it the unique knots. Then it was taken over by worms and still lived which gives the absolutely beautiful texture. It also has the much sought after"pimples" that make it even more unique! But then it was cut down to be made into a railroad tie and the sawmill discarded it into a burn pile thinking it was too small. That's where we came in. We love to go to sawmills in the area looking for gems hidden in huge burn piles. John spotted this right away and brought it home last fall and has hand sanded it to perfection for ten months now. He has hundreds of hours in this piece and it shows. The original hand hewn oak beam was reclaimed from an old Kentucky barn and has been cut in half to be used as a mantle or bench top. What is a hand-hewn timber? It’s any long piece of building material that has been transformed from round log to square timber using only hand-held tools. These timbers can then be sawed to different lengths and used as beams. Joists, trusses, posts or fireplace mantles. According to a Penn State University study on historic building techniques, in the American colonial period, most buildings were created with timber frames. Giant solid beams called“girts” ... morewere connected with mortise-and-tenon joints. Nails were a rare and expensive commodity, so they were held together with wooden pegs. Water-powered sawmills were a common feature of colonial life long before America declared independence from England. As early as 1620, millers were making a living turning logs into boards, and by 1840, historians estimate that there was a mill for every 245 people in the U.S. That means the people who used hand-hewing for their building timbers would have been frontier-dwellers who lived far from local sawmills, or people who couldn’t afford mill-sawn beams.
