This is an unbelievable find. And more to come, we found 3 old wood boxes full of antique straight razors in a Barber Shop that had been closed around 1960, t hi s is the first listing the other two will soon follow. This antique Oak box( also ver y desirable) has a metal tag on it and reads: The Bon heur Co. Syracuse NY and held 16 old straight razors. Every one seem to still be in great condition. I did not see any blades that were damaged, no nicks etc. One razor handle has a minor split in it. The rest look very nice. The razors are made by many different manufactures. For sale is an antique/vintage straight razor marked Zak Solingen-Germany on one side and Century in a diamond with Trade Mark on the sides of it. It has a yellow/ivory colored celluloid handle that is in good used condition with a couple tiny nicks on the inside edge and the number 777 ingraved in one side as shown. The blade measures 3" long x 5/8" wide and is pitted with surface rust. The edge is sharp but rough. It measures 6 1/8" overall. Don't miss out! I am listing another razor and will combine shipping. Antique Straight Razor Frederick Reynolds ~Sheffield 1800s
This is one antique straight razor made by Frederick Reynolds in Sheffield. England around late 1800s. The razor is in excellent condition with 5/8” barbers notch wedge blade with a frost etch partially gone, it is fairly clean free of any cracks. Pitting, chips or sharpening damage. The cutting edge is well honed and smooth. It pass the test with hinging hear of the back of my hand(which is remarkable for razor that old)but is not shave ready…it could be made with a little bit more honing. Shank front reads F. R. MANUFACTURED BY FREDERICK REYNOLDS SHEFFIELD. It has black rounded celluloid handles in good condition with some minor wear and scratches. There is one hairline crack at the wedge pin; free of any chips, nicks or other damage with two pins that appear original. It opens and closes snug and smooth on the pivot pin and well centered ... morebetween the handles. There is no box with this razor. Razor measures about 6 1/2" long when closed. All measurements are approximate. This is very nice example of Frederick Reynolds straight razor; it would be great addition to any collection or simply to use. This was a fantastic sharpening stone and was very well used. The stone is still attached to the base of this hand cut oak box. Over the years neglect has played a small part. Very. Very nice heirloom quality Wade& Butcher straight razor. Blade is excellent. Is shave-tested and ready to go to work. The blade has been fully restored and sharpened. It reads: Wade& Butcher Sheffield" But is very light from the polishing process. The blade is just over 6/8" and is 5 3/4" from tip to tang There are some light scratches on the scales. Antique JR Torrey Straight Razor, Mother of Pearl Handle Full Double Concave #52
This auction is for an antique JR Torrey straight razor with a mother of pearl handle. Made in Worcester. Mass, it measures 9 1/2 inches long when open and 6 1/4 inches when closed, the cover for the razor is a mottled olive green, not sure if it is celluloid or another kind of plastic, the blade is marked Full Double Concave and the handle is Mother of Pearl or faux Mother of Pearl with the JR Torrey Logo and it also has a 52 next to the metal blade, The Mother of Pearl has a tiny hairline crack on either side of the handle near the end, but it is intact and not coming apart, the blade which appears to be sharp, has some discoloring and possible pitting which I think could be buffed out, but I leave any cleaning, buffing etc to the discretion of the new owner, I have no idea if this particular razor is a common one or a hard to find one, ... moreI have priced it to sell, either way. After purchasing family bibles, personal antique items; I have always researched the names with the hope of returning these personal items to their families. I'm happy to say that I've been able to do this on several occasions. When I noticed the name. Town and state carved on to the scales of this straight razor; I attempted to do the same. Since I had never heard of Kearney. MO; I knew it must be a smaller town and felt chances were good that I might be able to find a descendent to return this razor to. Needless to say. Please Note: As this item was purchased at a Farm Estate Auction; proof positive provenance(chain of ownership) that this straight razor did belong to Jesse James is far beyond my research capabilities. Antique Vintage 1901 Pan American Exposition Straight Razor & Box Germany RARE
1901 Panama-Pacific Commemorative Straight Razor. In the Original Box. Buffalo, New York 1901 A superb. Commemorative straight razor with the standard 3” blade(total length 10” when open and 6” closed) Black, Bakelite handle. The blade is bearing an image of the Electric Tower, one of the Exposition buildings, and the words“Pan-American Exposition 1901 REGISTERED. Made by the Imperial Razor Company of Germany. The blade is nearly perfect, with the expected spot or two of oxidation. Housed in a black, slipcase embossed with Extra Hollow Ground, Fully Warranted GERMANY. Condition: The handle is broken at the bottom near the pin on one side. No chips or indents on the blade itself. Missing the top half of the original box. A Wonderful and RARE souvenir from the 1901 Pan American Exposition to add to anyone's collection. This is an antique#3 Silber Stahl straight razor. Made in Solingen Germany, it is in good used condition, has the original box, the great thing about this razor is we believe this was Buffalo Bill Cody's razor, the person I am listing this for, his Grandfather, who was born in 1890, at the age of 14{1904} jumped a train to be with Cody's Circus, the family were good friends of Cody's and many of his belongings, including this razor, were passed on to this family, I actually got to hold a pistol that was shot by Buffalo Bill, and Annie Oakely, the gun is going to a Museum, upon purchase of this razor, I will include the full copy of the newspaper article, as the family wishes not to have the last name on E-Bay, very cool item, no reserve. An antique straight razor from the 1893 World's Fair in Chicago-the Columbian Expo. There is a bit of paint on one end of the razor. I chipped a little off with my fingernail. So it does come off. The razor is still sharp! It comes in a case. But I'm not sure if it's original to the razor or not. It's a JR Torrey case. Contact me with questions prior to bidding. This unique medical item at first glance appears to be a straight razor. However the tang is marked- Microscopic Section Cutter- Germany Lentz and marked on the other side C 2636. These blades were used to cut super thin slices of tissue for viewing under a microscope. The front of the blade is hollow ground and the back side is perfectly flat. The handle appears to be aluminum and is marked W.A Steel. In good condition with a good blade which is 7/8" in width. Handle has some light scratches. Measures 6 5/8" long.
