Please read entire listing! Great piece of Advertising History. 17" x 11.75(unframed) This is an original embossed advertising sign for Doe Wah Jack Stoves that was based in North Carolina. The sign is in great condition. The frame I found it in not so much. The frames were not original anyhow but I could include it if wanted. From what I have found on some antique sites. This piece dates from 1890's to 1920's. I see more with the red Indian blanket only a few so far with the browns. A touch of blue in his beaded moccasins. This antique old stove lifter was made for the"Andes" brand of stoves. Ranges& heaters, made by the Phillips& Clark Stove Co of Geneva, New York. they were a famous& well know 19th& early 20th century New York stove foundry. this lifter is identical to the"dealer trade" lifters pictured in the 1891 Griswold cast iron products catalog. PA_ This listing is for a 1910 notebook given out by Scranton Stove Works which was in Scranton. PA. Pocket sized book has a 1910 calendar inside the front cover and a 1911 calendar inside the back cover. There is an illustration of the Dockash Foundry, the plant of the Scranton Stove Works. The pages with personal information are blank. Sections include addresses, memos, calendar, some maps and a couple of pages listing names of the stoves. Black cover measures 2.75" by 5.75" Condition of this old advertising item from a stove company long gone is Fair plus(see guide below) Cover has rub and scuff. Top coat missing in some places including over spine end, has soiling marks. Important: Cover has separated from pages inside ... morebecause they were held on the spine by the old string method which separates over time. This notebook is 103 years old. Inside there is some handwriting on a few pages. No water stains. Early 1900's antique rare wood handle style stove lid lifter& does have a lift tongue to raise the lids on top of the stove. lift end will fit the standard style lids on the old cast iron cookstoves, ranges& heaters. it was made by the WO Stead Co of Philadelphia Pa. they were a novelty company that made advertising items for other companies. this lifter was made as a give away advertiser for the BH Hershey Coal Co of Manheim, Pa. when you ordered a load of winter coal, the delivery man would present the homeowner with 1 of these. they didn't last long since the handle was made of wood. you can see the condition, some of the lettering is faded some, other parts are still very strong. it is damage free as the pictures show the condition. the metal part shows no wear or oxidation& has not been cleaned, is guaranteed ... morenot any part a reproduction, but is old, original along with the wood handle, all wording on the wood& brass ferrule cup. the end has a small hole drilled in it for a hook that could be placed there so hang the lifter on a nail or etc.a great early primitive piece of Pennsylvania advertising coal industry history. anyone with a old stove or range could be in need of these for their stoves& heaters. please email with any questions before bidding as all sales are final. Original 10 X 15 inch 1883 dated 12 page newspaper. The ACORN NEWS published by Rathbone Sard and Co. of Troy and Albany, New York. The paper has beautiful line engravings of parlour, heating and cooking stoves. The last page is marked at the bottom with the local salesman: O. H. McConnel of Jackson, Michigan. Rathbone, Sard was a principle manufacturer of cast iron heating and cooking stoves in the 19th. century. Condition: pages yellowed. No writing, no stains, no tears and there is NO musty smell. Will carefully pack flat in an archival sleeve with heavy cardboard backing to avoid damage in transit to you. I can combine shipping.
