Thanks for looking! I'm not really sure about this item! I think it is some type of antique design duplicator or scriber. It has tons of cogs and wheels and a handle which turns the cogs and wheels. It is partially disassembled. Though, so it is not working as it should. The wheels turn and most are still engaged to each other. Included with all of the brass hardware in the antique wooden case(which is beautiful, by the way) are ink pen tips that I assume are fitted somehow in this set up so that as one draws on one of the circles, another pen makes the same moves on the other circle.that's my theory anyway! You be the judge! All I really know is that it is very heavy(like 10 pounds or more, almost all brass and the antique wooden box(with working key) is great. Wonderful Primitive Antique Hand Hammered Gilt Copper& Brass Clad Wood Chest/Trunk. This is an all original beautiful piece. It is NOT a reproduction. It is sitting on wooden wheels. It has a hinged lid but one of the hinges has come loose from the lid and the piece of wood it was attached to has broken off. The hinge is still attached to the box. The lid still opens and closes fine and this could probably be repaired. There are some places throughout the box where the copper may be slightly bent. Dented, cracked etc. One of the corners has a piece of the trim that is around the edges that has come off but we do have a piece of it that may be reattached. The top of the lid has a spot where one of the nail holes is open and there is some white"sand" or something that they used to keep the 3D scene from caving in inside. Overall ... moremeasurements are 18 1/4" wide side to side, 11 1/2" front to back, and 13" tall. The scene on the front is four men sitting on benches and upside down barrels. One man standing to the side with what looks like a stein in one hand and a woman peeking out the door of the cottage. There is a cat sitting close by observing the men. The has what looks like men and women. One man looks to be helping a woman up off the ground. The scene on one of the sides is two men sitting inside amongst overturned barrels with bottles. Vases, pots etc in the background on a shelf. One is playing a violin or fiddle and the other is sitting next to him. The scene on the other side shows a man sitting in a chair with another man standing over him in front of him. Maybe he's a doctor or dentist? I can't really tell what he is doing. Item- Signed Brass Kaleidoscope with 5 wheels. I think it is a Koch. But the signature is not ledgible. The first letter is a n S and I can read the 92 date on it. Wheels are glass and one looks like quartz stone. Measurement- 9 1/4" long from tip of knob to viewing area. Wheels are approx. 2 1/4" each and base measures 8" long x 3 5/8" deep x 1 5/8" high Condition- Brass could use a polishing. I see little pindot marks under close inspection with a magnifier. Set of 4 Victorian 1851 Goodyear Brass Iron and Wood Wheels Furniture Casters
We have here a Set of 4 Victorian 1851 Casters. The wheel appears to be wood. But being made by Goodyear, they could be rubber. Its hard to tell, and I do not want to scratch it to make sure. They measure 3" tall. Wheels have 1" diameter. Iron peg is 1 3/8" tall. Peg is 1/4" wide. 5/8" between the three screw holes, center to center. All the tires say Goodyear 1851. LR Combs Co. On the iron top it says Pat May 20'73. 1873! The base is brass. The top is iron. Has 3 screw holes. All wheels are smooth and the iron top rotates smoothly. These were off an old victorian desk! Perfect for refinishing a piece with a great pair of period casters! One wheel. On the 3 screw holes, one of the holes has a split. I think they pierced it to close the edge. Its definitely has a split, but appears to be connected, like they pulled ... moreit out and it broke, but it was still hot and came back together! They are worn. This is a beautiful carved chest that has so much detail. Locks with a hair pin/dovetail lock. The base on the inside has a long split that is natural from the wood. Smells great inside.
