Antique Architectural Salvage Weathered Column Cap - weathered, Rustic Decor
If this column cap could talk. I would be willing to bet it has more sordid stories and harrowing tales than Rob Ford. This exquisitely ornate, gorgeously weathered column cap is a magnificent piece of historic salvage. Chipped, peeling paint unearth the gritty texture hidden beneath the bone white exterior. The imperfect details, like cracked corners and a slight lean, give it character, while the flourishing curliques and imposing European charm belie what must have been a wealthy past in a building of grand stature. Shockingly, this isn't as heavy as you might expect(around 20 lbs, easy enough for this admittedly weak-armed shopkeep to lift) which makes it easy to repurpose for plenty of uses. My first thought was that this would be an incredible, one-of-a-kind pedestal for a Christmas tree, either real or fake(though you might need ... moreto slip something underneath one side to make it a bit more stable and cure the lean) However, if you have a bigger table, it would make an incredible centerpiece on its own, and could easily be accented with a candelabra, tealights, or bottlebrush trees. Year round, use it as a plant stand, small accent table, or just as salvage-chic decor. Measures approximately 14.5" wide. 15" tall. Please note: the paint is incredibly delicate and chips very easily. In person pickup is highly recommended. But I will be happy to ship. 19th Century Architectural Building Piece Column Etc Marble 60 Pounds
For your consideration is a 19th Century Architectural marble column etc in two pieces. I bought this years ago at an estate auction along with a ton of decorative rocks that were in the former owner's yard. I cannot guarantee it is 19th Century or maybe even older. But there is no doubt it is very very old in my opinion. It would not surprise me if it was hand cut marble considering the wavy uneven appearance of the small top piece, but I do not know for sure. I assume the small piece as illustrated in the gallery images goes with the larger one. It fits into the hole although not perfectly. Therefore, you may be buying two pieces that do not go together, but I think they probably do. The larger piece had the same patina as the smaller one with a lot of dirt on it so I started cleaning it off and got most of it. I used a hard brush on ... morethe chipped place until the white marble was visible. Since I did not know if the new owner would want the weathered patina, I decided to stop right there and let the buyer decide when he/she receives the pieces. I can see all the crystals in the white portion of the column so I know it is marble. I did not do anything with the smaller piece. The larger of the two pieces measures approximately 21" long. 6-1/2" across the side that is the widest. The top piece or smaller one measures approximately 6-1/2" long and 4-3/4" with a large chip on one side. As for condition: As previously mentioned. Both pieces have chips. The new owner can decide how much of the patina they wish to remove in the cleaning process. Please feel free to ask any questions you need to. I would date them to the late 1800's, early 1900's. These pieces are really large measuring 26" Tall and are solid. I'm not certain as to the type of wood. I have not seen anything like them in quite sometime and they are becoming more difficult to find. They would make a great brackets for a wall shelf or decorative conversation pieces. As noted, there are some missing parts here and there, however overall they look great. They could use a good cleaning and possible stain if desired. Please ask questions if interested. There are 4 of these available. As they all look the same. I just include a picture of one. Each measures 8' tall. The base is 13" square and the top is 10 1/2" in diameter. They are cast iron with each one weighing nearly 1,000 pounds. All four are in good condition needing only a sandblasting and powder coating or paint. These were support columns on the front of a local school. They are not lamp posts. They are being sold fob where they are which is zip code 52627. If they buyer sends a truck. I will have a forklift to load them. I will not be responsible after they are on the truck. These are being started at $500 each. Staircase parts, fireplace mantles and more, so I contacted the owners of a few local buildings that were scheduled for demolition. I found and purchased all of the things that I needed for my project and lots of extra treasures which I eventually resold. 17 years later this is still my full time job! Antique Architectural Newel Post Base Banister Base Tiger Oak Great Pedestal Too A 26 years long time antique dealer in this area is closing her doors for good. And I actually spent two days picking this weekend through her stuff. She specialized in very old primitives, but I was able to grab a little bit for everyone– I have some fabulous advertising, industrial, retro, deco, lots of store displays and apothecary too– you don’t want to miss this week! WOW. Do I love this one! It's a beautiful antique architectural piece for you. A post bottom of base of some sorts- it's 12 1/2 lbs heavy and in excellent solid and sturdy structural condition- totally strong. Wouldn't it make a wonderful pedestal for your pretty? It's hollow on the inside, as you can see in my photos, with a solid wood base that has a single small hole at the ... morebottom, and numbers that are impressed in the wood- there's 18243, and then there's 396. I do not know the maker. You can also see wood pegs on the underside too- see photo 21- they are lighter in color and round. It measures 9 7/8" square at the base, 7 1/2" square at the body and 8 7/8' square at the top. The opening at the top is 4 1/4" square. It's 12 1/2" tall. I'm showing it next to my footstool in photo 2 for a size reference. The piece is covered with a tiger oak veneer, and you can see that there's one row of a carved look veneer just above the base- see photo 16. I do not know what the body wood is, but it's hard wood, and it even could be oak- see my top and bottom photos and what you think, as I am not sure. The patina is dark and shows a fair amount of wear to the finish- more aligatored crackles from age than anything. There's one corner that has a chip to the veneer- I'm showing it from one side in photo 19 and from the other side in photo 20. The photo 19 side chip is about 1" by 1" while the two chips on the other side are about 1/4" and 1/8" There's some other small spots and corn

THE BEST OLD ARCHITECTURAL FLUTED COLUMN with CAPITAL WHITE Patina 4 1/2' Tall WOW! OMG THIS IS AMAZING AND IS AN OLD ARCHITECTURAL FLUTED COLUMN WITH THE CAPITAL THAT IS ABOUT 55" TALL OR ABOUT 4 1/2 FEET TALL. I love columns to add a touch of architectural interest to a room or to"age" a newer home. This is an older wood fluted column with a plaster ornate capital at the top that is removable. The column and capital weighs about 30 pounds and is about 4 1/2' tall. The column itself is fluted and wood. The capital is plaster. It has the old white with soft gray paint that is chippy. Peely, crackly with paint loss and dirt for an awesome time worn patina. PLEASE NOTE THE CONDITION OF THE CAPITAL. There are some old cracks. As I show, but it appears to be solid. There is also some missing pieces of the plaster in a couple ... moreof the corners. You can turn it with this part to the back of the wall. They would add a nice architectural touch to any room of your home. Perfect anywhere in your home in your shabby chic, French country, Paris Apt or romantic cottage décor.
